While designing aesthetically pleasing spaces, are we as designers thinking about safety measures? Are we choosing the materials just for their visual outlook or for their practicality?

Answering these questions of interior design, on 12th February, JD Institute Of Fashion Technology organized a webinar on the topic of Laminates, wall cladding, and wood. Hosted by our Corporate Manager and Industry Relationship Manager, this webinar helped the students gain an insight into the safety aspects of interior and facade designing. While designing a space, the safety measures are often overlooked as the focus tends to shift towards beautification. This webinar was organized with an aim of showing the students the practical facets of designing. Our speaker, Mr. Mayank Bansal enlightened the students on the importance of balancing the beauty and safety concerns together. Bringing this webinar to fruition was the interactive session between the students and the speaker, that highlighted the market insights for wall claddings.

Reinforcing the creative caliber of the students, the speaker talked about various materials, the underlying safety, and practical aspects in every design. We as the end-user often wonder what exactly is a good design? Is it just the visually appealing part or there is something more to it? Answering these very questions, Mr. Bansal acquainted our students with various materials used in the successful implementation of facades and interior cladding. Adding more depth to his presentation was the market analysis for all the materials. With real-life images from the Greenlam manufacturing unit and product specifications from their portfolio, this session was wholesome. Mr. Mayank Bansal’s stance on the subject of practical design was solidified with the usage of images and videos aids. The case studies presented in front of the students from their project portfolio helped our students understand the subject even better.

Mr. Mayank Bansal is a published writer and IIM-Lucknow alumni. He is the AGM-Product specialist at Greenlam Industries Ltd. with experience of 11 years in Product management in diverse industries like Building materials, Pharmaceuticals, and Custom Research Organizations. His key interest lies in New product development and managing the entire lifecycle of a product. He has executed research projects at IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee and was awarded Chairmen’s award for exemplary contributor of the year 2016-17 by Jubilant Life Sciences. He currently takes care of product training for all internal and external stakeholders at Greenlam Industries Ltd.

Bringing this informative session to an end, the students interacted with the speaker and asked him about the market insights for the various materials used in wall cladding. Mr. Bansal’s sincere reply to every question assisted the Jediiians to grasp the concept better. This session was concluded with a heartfelt thank you from the JD team.
