As a management student, who was excelling in academics, working well and enjoying the new phase in her life, it never occurred to me that fashion could be more than just a hobby.
Fashion has been my language of expression. I believe that my style portrays my emotions. Since my teenage years, new trends and designs have always intrigued me and this admiration for trends only grew with time, to a level that now I design my own clothes, even though I never pursued any formal education in fashion. During my late teens, I vividly remember when people around me used to read John Green, I was always spotted reading Vogue and Grazia. To me, fashion is exciting and helps me to discover myself a little more every day.
Shifting my career path from a digital marketer to wanting to pursue fashion was not an easy decision. I was a person who had it all sorted – always prepping her to-do lists, checking boxes off and sticking to a plan – but as they say, life is full of surprises and it never goes as planned. My plans fell apart only to fall in place, and having known the course they have taken now has been nothing but extremely gratifying.
Studying fashion formally at JD institute feels like nourishing my soul and voicing my emotions. I am ten times happier now, doing what I love and learning new things every day, exploring my creativity and keeping my spirits high. My social profiles are a testament to the fact and this is my new normal.
