The fashion industry is an industry that is extremely very competitive. To be successful in this industry, you must have great creativity, talent, and artistic skills. Only if you succeed in all of these then can you have surety on having a job in this field.  

Role of an intern with required skills in the fashion industry

While working as an intern in the fashion industry, your role can vary depending on the aspect of the fashion industry in which you are working. Some of the options to have an internship in include fashion design, fashion retail, editorial work, or fashion sales. 

When you are working in a fashion industry your work responsibilities can include handling sales, merchandising, sketching, sewing, promotion, event planning or advertising. Interns are always advised to have a keen passion and great skills in order to succeed in the fashion industry. Working in the fashion industry can sometimes turn out to be extremely overwhelming and tiring as there are long hour shifts. Therefore, if you don’t love this field you won’t be able to sustain yourself here.

Drawing skills are essential for an individual to know who is planning to make a career in the fashion industry.  
  5. Good eye for detail: Fashion is an industry where details are everything. You will often end up having multiple projects at the same time which will require your constant attention. Therefore, you should really be able to catch the details and work wisely on them. One should have an eye for great management skills in order to balance multiple projects at the same time.
  6. Understanding of Quality, Texture and Color of fabrics: Fashion interns should understand the quality, texture and color of the fabrics. They should be able to understand what fabric texture goes with a particular color. A fashion intern should also know complementary colors as well as how do we match these colors in a different and intriguing manner. 
  7. Strong visualization skills: When you are dealing with a fashion design and fashion fabrics, you should also be able to visualize what the final product will look like so you can plan accordingly how you need to go about it. One should be able to select and coordinate outfits with different accessories. One should be able to dress mannequins and maintain fashion retail as a display that attracts the audience.

  • Able to work in a team: One of the key fashion skills you will need is the ability to work in a team with various people around. You will obviously be a part of a team that has to work closely in order to complete some of the major projects. Therefore, you should have to be able to collaborate with others effectively. You should be able to solve problems rather than blaming or pinpointing someone. Be sure of adding diversity to your project ideas. This will help you in working efficiently together.
