As a kid I would use my mother’s sari, cut them up and drape my dolls, playing a designer. Nothing makes you happier than seeing your dreams taking shape. In 2018, I modeled for a friend’s makeup course at JD Institute. After a year I enrolled in JD as a fashion design student. 2019 has been a year of beautiful memories and fruitful experiences. I went to France to visit the Louvre museum and Eiffel tower followed by London to pursue a styling course. Thanks to JD, I fulfilled all my dreams of pursuing fashion designing learning great skills through amazing experiences offered for students. I enjoyed my study tour (fun galore too) and a degree in media styling from the University of Arts, London. They say experiences are what make you! It certainly adds layers to one’s personality. While in London, I enjoyed visiting the “Victoria and Albert Museum” and the “Design Museum”. That experience showed me that design is everywhere and in everything; designing clothes is just one aspect. During the pandemic, inspired by Rina Dhaka’s session, I tried to make the best of the situation by hand stitching numerous linen and cotton masks for family and friends. I also made the most of the opportunities offered to me by JD for backstage internships and styling. These two events were the calendar shoot for 2021 with the country’s top models and clothes by top designers and the “London India Fashion week”. Both of these gave me an opportunity to closely handle and observe the workings behind the scene as well as the construction and surfacing did on all the ensembles. I feel blessed and grateful for 2020 and my college for always driving me to create and learn! I am looking forward to the complete my Diploma use my skills to make my mentors. Well, I have definitely come a long way from dressing Dolls to designing and creating for actual people!
