JEDIIIANS GIVE HOPE & HAPPINESS TO THOSE BEHIND BARS

A shared vision and united efforts for its realization is the key to any perpetual transformation in human society.  JD Institute of Fashion Technology, joined hands with Antarkranti- Prisoner Reformation & Rehabilitation Program of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan ( DJJS), to generate opportunities and employment for the prisoners.  The organization is working to transform prison inmates and to empower them so that they can bid adieu to the path of crime forever and lead an honourable life.

“Vocational Training cum Livelihood Units” have been set up in various jails including Tihar where inmates are trained to make Aromatic products- Incense cones & sticks, samidha ( aromatic burning powder), Herbal beauty products- hair packs, face packs, Herbal Gulal, Designer Rakhi, Paper carry-Bags, Vedic food etc. The products are made and packaged such that they can meet market trend as well as brand value.  Students of JD institute got an amazing opportunity to support Antarkranti program.

They assisted DJJS in setting up and merchandising of the products at various exhibitions across Delhi. Promotional stalls are a great way of establishing a bond between the society and the prisoners. Various pop-ups were organized in public domain like Select Citywalk Mall, Modern School Vasant Vihar, CMD, Grand Thronton, Deloitte, Li & Fung, IGNCA, Blind Relief Association, Dilli Haat etc.  A huge number of visitors and traders visited these stalls. Students explained the benefits of the products and the cause to them. They gained hands-on experience in promoting the products made by prisoners. Additionally, they also contributed by collating the data of beneficiaries of Antarkranti.

Students worked selflessly for the social cause and gained valuable experience in life skills, as well. The exposure helped in improving their communication skills. It gave them a chance to interact with corporate and other professional agencies. They learnt visual merchandising and the role of aesthetic display in selling any product. They also gained knowledge of customer handling and consumer behaviour. They also learned how important virtues and moral values are in professional life.

Ms Rupal Dalal, Executive Director of JD institute says, “We are happy to partner with DJJS in their mission for prisoner reformation & rehabilitation under Antarkranti program. Vocational, skill-based training is the key to create employment in society and it is our earnest endeavour to contribute in any way that we can. Prisoners are a much-neglected section of our society and I am happy to see our students taking up their cause and contributing in their upliftment.”
