At the glittering evening of India Fashion week 2018 in London, students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology bagged several prestigious awards, to mark excellence in the field of fashion & design. As many as 38 specialised garments, created, designed and manufactured by Jediiians themselves were showcased at the fashion show.
Budding designers Chhaya Gandhi and Bani won the RC Dalal Memorial Award that is considered as one of the most prestigious awards at the India Fashion Week London under the banner of National Asian Wedding Show, undoubtedly the Largest Asian wedding show in London. This award was initiated last year to carry forward the legacy of Mr RC Dalal for young talent.
Chhaya Gandhi is a notable designer and an alumnus of the institute from Mumbai; Bani who has a label in her name Bani Couture is a science graduate and her designs represent a mix of colors and glamour.
“It is first a huge opportunity for our students to part of a prestigious international stage like India Fashion Week London and second winning laurels and awards for the work our students have done. In what was the 12th year of the prestigious concept by the internationally renowned event production house The Platinum Group, Founder Mr. Manny Singh appreciated Jediiians for their creativity and artistic skills. The second award category was the Young Talent Award, presented to two JD institute students Bijayendra Singh and Shourya Sarkar who realised their true potential by depicting their choicest collection at the gala event.
The other highlights of the Fashion week included a ramp walk for JD Institute by Sandeep Soparrkar, Bollywood choreographer, actor and columnist who holds a doctorate in World Mythology Folklore from the United States, practice sessions, on the spot mentoring and interactions with renowned personalities, which provided a good exposure to the students preparing them for the corporate world.
