IMPORTANCE OF BRAINSTORMING AREAS

IN ALL KINDS OF OFFICE SPACES

During the last couple of years, the demand as well as popularity of brainstorming area within the traditional office spaces have grown exponentially, making it an ideal hot-spot for generation of ideas in an unbiased and liberal atmosphere, where any person in the group is encouraged to contribute/ share their opinion freely toward ongoing notion for new launches or innovative initiatives.

There is a saying, “many minds many finds” – that truly comes out alive in a session of brainstorming ideas. If executed properly, it promises great deal of benefits from a diverse set of minds at work, such as–

  • For an Interior Design firm requiring an out of the box design solution, explicitly demanded by a client with a cosmopolitan mindset, a brainstorming session is often the last resort within the internal members to find an innovative solution. When the conventional techniques and methods falls short of delivering the desired and expected solutions, an open platform for idea generation comes to the rescue. Each member contributes their best by dissecting the core of the design challenges by providing the optimal solution for any given problem at a place and extempore, based on individual knowledge, expertise or both.
  • The most significant aspect in such arrangements is that, there are only a few basic guidelines to follow and plenty to explore. For instance,views of each participant would be entertained till the end and interjection is not an exception here. Making holes into others’ idea is accepted, provided there are rooms for improvements, considered by a majority. These points are relatively easy to learn and abide by each member. Another exception to the rule is that any other members (even outside the team) may interrupt as well as by injecting a radical/ unique idea to what is being discussed at the moment. The rules are generally loose ended and inherently understood by all participants. Therefore, any barrier toward creative exploration gets eliminated effectively with ease.
  • In addition, the costs for a brainstorming session are pretty low in relation to the smart output given by a member/a group in a flexible set up, contrary to a traditional set up in which case the views are frequently suppressed in the mind despite having the capacity in the company’s manpower. It explores a process called brain mining, in which people in a given group are provoked to spell out utmost solution in the shortest span of time and this is a mild way of productivity, resulting in eventual reduction of cost for the project in the long run.
  • Sometimes, the most unexpected individuals, often overlooked by the qualified experts in a group, may provide the most innovative solutions in a surprising way,better known as “unconventional wisdom” within the community of scholars. Participants with different knowledge and diverse set of experiences come together and they take part in exploring various ideas and suggestions in order to create innovative outcomes. Sometimes “people of other professions” may have the more intriguingideaspartly because they are able to think without having fixed boundaries in the mind to reach to the solutions and in turn inspires for the experts in the given profession with their unusual and logical ideas.
  • Because the ideas are not subjected to harsh criticisms or straight away rejections but instead are entertained and discussed with care during a brainstorming session, innovative as well as out of the box proposals are evaluated, discussed and refined gradually in order to reach unconventional solutions. The participants taking part in the sessions very often build their solutions on the ideas of others, or link up bits of ideas from more than one person into a chain of solution. The scope of improvement at a later stage is reduced considerably, so the solution reached is workable and free from errors. This synergy effect allows the achievement of better results from the ideas, generated over the shortest period of time.
  • Ultimately, brainstorming in groups improves the working environment of the establishment and strengthens each member to share their own ideas openly which otherwise would have remained in a suppressed state. The majority of the silent members in an institution has the potential to transform collectively into a creative in cubatorin an organization but unfortunately the traditionally restrictive, biased work culture does not support such majority of them flourish completely. Thus the brainstorming areas within an organization presents the opportunity to turn an apparently simple concept of ‘shared thinking and combined exploration’ into a productive component or a “Think tank” in any organization, resulting in holistic growth and

The solutions thus found are generally more easily accepted by the team and its implementation at a large-scale often imparts a sense of confidence in the members of an organization, otherwise it has the potential to affect the productivity of an organization in the long run and may boomerang in the future course.
