How Vastu Can Help You to Sleep Well

Vastu Shastra, which literally translates to “the science of architecture,” sets out the design, layout, measurements, ground planning, space arrangement, and spatial geometry concepts for a home or any built-up structure; it may also incorporate traditional Hindu (and even Buddhist) religious beliefs. Vastu theories offer ideas and concepts for creating a living space that is in tune with nature, rather than being limited to rigid layout diagrams and incorporating geometric patterns, symmetry, and directional alignments.

Vastu Shastra ideas and concepts are models for organising space and shape within a room or a group of rooms or structures based on their functions in relation to one another, as well as their purpose and use. Although Vastu Shastra provides advice and guidance for the design of all rooms in a house, including the bedroom, kitchen, dining room, playroom, home office, prayer room, and outdoor spaces, its science has also been extended to the construction of cities, townships, parks, highways, waterworks, and other large public spaces. Vastu Shastra considers a house to be a living soul, and it strives to achieve maximum positive energy by balancing the five elements (earth, fire, water, space, and air). Each home or living space has its energy, and in order to be harmonious and peaceful, a house must radiate the right kind of energy. At the end of the day, the energy of the home will have an effect on each living member’s mental health.

Vastu for bedrooms is an excellent way to ensure that you get a good night’s sleep and are ready to face the day. If you’re having trouble sleeping or experience negative sounds in your bedroom, it may be time to give your space a much-needed makeover based on Vastu Shastra principles.

Vastu shastra tips or remedies for you to follow are:

The direction of the bedroom, according to Vastu

  • The master bedroom should be in the home’s southwest corner, as it is associated with good health, longevity, and prosperity.
  • The guest bedroom or your children’s bedroom will benefit from a northwest orientation.
  • Bedrooms in the southeast or northeast corners should be avoided at all costs, as they can cause health problems and domestic strife.

Shape, position and bed position, according to Vastu

  • Place the bed in the southwest corner of the room. Make sure your head is in the south or east while you’re sleeping. This is how the body consumes positive energy. According to Vastu, sleeping with your head in the north is a no-no.
  • It is suggested that the bed be made of wood and shaped in either a square or rectangular shape.
  • Avoid putting the bed directly under a beam. If you just can’t help yourself, a false ceiling for the bedroom is a bright idea.
  • Ensure the bed isn’t too close to the walls; it needs to be open from both sides.

Wardrobes, mirrors and dressers

  • Wardrobes should be placed in the southwest corner of the bedroom, with the door swinging open to the east or south.
  • In the bedroom, mirrors do not face the bed. According to Vastu, seeing a reflection of your sleeping self is not considered auspicious. Mirrors look fantastic on the northern or eastern walls.
  • Keep your valuables facing north, as this is where Kuber, the Lord of Riches, lives.
  • Do you have a mirror on your dresser? Instead of facing the bed, place the dresser next to it.
  • Declutter your bedroom and just hold things that will benefit you. If your bed has a storage option, fill it with useful objects (as well as those that bring back happy memories), so you can get a good night’s sleep.

Is your space located in the northeast? Here are a few options to consider. Use lavender incense or essential oil in the room to combat Vastu defects in the northeast. A bowl of sea salt may also be placed in the room to help balance the Vastu dosh. The presence of Lord Ganesh or Goddess Lakshmi in the room would infuse it with positive energy.
