Empowering Future Designers: JD Institute Students at the Global Textile Sustainability Summit

On September 4, 2024, JD Institute of Fashion Technology had the honour of collaborating with ASSOCHAM for an enlightening experience at the Global Textile Sustainability Summit. Held at the prestigious Hotel Taj Mansingh in New Delhi, this summit, themed “Make India a Sustainable Textile Hub,” marked a significant step toward a greener future in the textile industry.

A Landmark Event in Textile Sustainability

The Global Textile Sustainability Summit was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of State, Shri Pabitra Margherita, who addressed the urgent need for India to become a global leader in sustainable textile practices. The opening remarks set a powerful tone, highlighting the government’s focus on fostering innovation, reducing environmental impact, and promoting eco-friendly practices in one of India’s largest industries.

The event saw participation from key industry stakeholders, including senior executives from companies like ColorJet, Reliance, Aditya Birla, and Welspun. These companies are at the forefront of sustainable textile solutions, making them integral players in India’s journey toward becoming a global leader in eco-friendly textile production. Each panellist brought a wealth of knowledge, sharing their experiences in implementing sustainable practices and strategies to make the textile industry more resilient and environmentally responsible.

The summit featured several key sessions focusing on pressing issues and future strategies in textile sustainability:

  1. Sustainable Textile Excellence: This session highlighted innovative practices and technologies that are setting new standards in textile sustainability.
