Colour

The first thing noticeable in the garment is the colour, the lightness or darkness/brightness or dullness used,  the proportion of the different colours used or the placement of colours. Fabric

To attain a Particular shape while designing, the type of fabric you choose is significant. Fabric texture refers to the feel of the fabric which includes its stiffness or softness or the appearance of the fabric. Other than the smooth appearance found in most fabrics, there are a variety of fabrics that possess a different texture such as crinkled, woven with raised patterns, etc

The prints and patterns in the fabric while designing plays a really important role in deciding the look of it.

Body Shape

Balance and Rhythm 

Balance and rhythm in fashion designing refer to symmetry or asymmetry with regards to shape, colour, style lines or elements. The designer focuses on designing the garment so that both sides of it appear to be the same or different,  a proportionate or appropriate combination of lines or shapes can lead to different rhythms.

Rhythm depicts the Pattern created with the help of lines or shapes for example how the synchronised embroidery design is made around the neckline.

Emphasize

 This refers to emphasising an element of the design to denote greater attention to something- it is usually a break in the rhythm of the garment.

For example studded collar in a denim jacket, etc

Design Lines

It depicts the lines seen in the garment which separates its shape like waistline, hemline, etc. For the composition of the garment, lines and their correct placement is very important. Two types of design lines are commonly seen- straight lines and curved lines. Straight lines are the lines that are placed horizontally, vertically and even diagonally, while a curved line can be a bit curved or slightly spherical.

Diagonal lines are often used to create an asymmetry which is in fashion these days.

Dress Details and Decorative Designs

To enhance the look of the garment decoration and detailing should be given emphasis such as strategically placed fabric patterns, frills, ruffles, etc. while the decorative designs Include embroidery, fringes, etc. These decorative designs or dress details should be added according to the type of fabric or simplicity and complexity of the garment, etc

Unity and Proportion

The relationship between various components of a garment along with the size or scale of the garment about the wearer is known as proportion. While unity is the factor that combines proportion, balance, rhythm, etc and enhances the look of the whole product
