BSc Fashion Designing Syllabus

Bachelors in fashion designing is an undergraduate program of fashion designing. It is a three-year course that is spread over six semesters. This course is designed to study fashion design, such as jewellery, footwear, interior design, etc. 

It could be said that BSc fashion design involves the conversion of creativity and artistic talents in creating saleable products like artistic talents. Though the syllabus of fashion designing keeps changing from college to college, there are certain subjects that remain unchanged.

Fashion History 

In this, you will be taught about the brief history of fashion and its revolution in different centuries. This will deal with how the fashion started and its link with the culture. The emergence of fashion houses and their roles, etc. 

This would be very interesting, especially for the people who are always curious about fashion and haute couture. This will help you develop a better idea, and you can even try to merge two different country fashion cultures. You can even make different backgrounds, which is an essential reason for the differentiation in fashion brands. 

You can challenge yourself by setting a particular goal and time limit and then coming up with your ideas. You can even fuse different styles and then compile them into one.

Analytical Drawing 

The traditional paper and pencil design are what constitute the analytical drawing. It is where an artist creates 2D or 3D projections using the rules of perspectives. This allows us to precisely infer the 3D meaning of the 2D drawing as it is being made. 

There are various techniques used in these, for instance.

1. Contour drawing 
2. Cross contour drawing 
3. The tonal study, etc. 

Contour Drawing includes the outlines, the shape, and edges but not the fine details of it. They also show textures, tone, and colour. Cross contour drawing shows the lines drawings across the surface to suggest their depth and form. The tonal study uses different techniques to direct the light and shade. 

This is done by blending, hatching, or cross-hatching. It also includes the colour study, which shows the different colours and tones, for example, making colour by blending them using a range of other coloured pens. You can also use pencil colours to overlap the different colours. 

Creative Jewellery 

Well, you will be studying a lot about jewellery. It comes in all types, like handmade jewellery, and so on. You’ll learn all the intricacies involved, i.e., making a jeweller as a part of your BSc fashion designing syllabus. You can make a rewarding career if you are interested in designing areas. 

An individual who has a perfect sense of fashion and pays attention to all the jewellery’s fine details is an ideal candidate for a career in jewellery in the fashion industry. Apart from sticking to the syllabus alone, you can explore your interest during your internship period. This will give you a clear understanding. 

Elements of Textiles 

This is another fascinating area you can delve into. The textiles are made from any material with four primary sources, animal(wool, silk), plant(cotton, flax), mineral(asbestos, glass fibre), and synthetic(polyester, rayon). There are several elements of textiles design that need to be kept in mind.

3. Form
4. Colour
5. Texture 

They all represent each element of textile design, and it is used in clothing, textiles, etc. These are the people behind the fabric, the texture of the dress, the material used, etc. These involve outstanding details, and one will learn all this in their course on the textile elements. 

Leather Designing 

Leather designing includes all the design which requires to be done on leather material. This will consist of your footwear, bags, etc. One can make a career out of this if you have an eye for design on leather accessories. It is a new career field and is slightly different from mainstream fashion designing. 

This is so because it mainly deals with leather. With the demand for leather goods increasing globally, a specialised course in leather goods and accessories designing makes students stand out in a creative world. This course is highly structured and aims to develop a holistic specialist to meet the industry’s requirements from an integrated design perspective.
