From film sets to one of South Asia’s most significant art platforms, Tanvi Walia’s journey reflects the evolving possibilities of design education in action.
An alumna of JD Institute of Fashion Technology (Interior Design, 2016), Tanvi recently showcased her work at the Indian Art Fair 2026, the leading annual platform for Modern and Contemporary art in South Asia.
Tanvi began her career as a set decorator in the film and advertising industry, where she spent nearly a decade transforming creative concepts into fully realised environments. Her work involved prop styling, detailed sourcing, and executing visually rich sets for commercials and shoots, developing both creative and logistical precision.
She later expanded into the wedding and experiential events industry, applying her set design expertise to immersive décor styling and large-scale spatial experiences.
At India Art Fair 2026, Tanvi led the set styling for “Breakfast in a Blizzard” by HH Art Spaces, an open-air kitchen installation designed for performance art.
The project demanded not only creative sensibility but also high-level coordination and large-scale execution to bring the installation to life.
Tanvi’s career reflects how strong interior design fundamentals can extend across industries, from cinema to experiential art, demonstrating versatility, precision, and sustained creative growth. Her work at Indian Art Fair 2026 is not an isolated milestone, but the result of years of applied learning, on-ground execution, and expanding responsibility across industries.
