FREEWAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR FASHION KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

There are lots of people who wish to be fashion designers but do not know anything about fashion design as a subject. Being a fashion-savvy person does not make you the right fit for this course, that is just one facet of it. This is what we at JD Institute of Fashion Technology tell our students in the first lecture so that they know what it takes to be a fashion designer.

We offer a lot of fashion designing courses that you can pursue after 12th, the three-year undergraduate course being one of them. In this course, the students get to know the technicalities of designing and they are encouraged to think out of the box. The students are sent abroad to spend a semester there and just broaden their horizons and come back brimming with creativity and new ideas. In fact, we are known for the global exposure that we provide to our students. The students get to learn from the best in the industry. We organize our own fashion events where the students display their designs which is our way of preparing them for the fashion world.

We also offer a one-year diploma course where the students gather the material knowledge considering the compact nature of the course. In this course, we primarily focus on industry-based training and it’s all very strategically put in our curriculum without overwhelming the students. We teach them fabric analysis which we feel is very pivotal to the role of a fashion designer. The other course that we offer is a two-year advanced diploma course.

In the two-year postgraduate course, the students get to develop their own unique style because having a niche gets them closer to their next big step which is haute couture. They get to enhance their aesthetic skills and learn about different cultures and their preferences.

Fashion is a sought-after profession because of the fame that one can get. To get admission in a fashion designing course one must score more than 50% in the 12th standard but there are some institutes that demand that you clear their aptitude exam.

There are lots of options when it comes to specializations, just like any other field which include, garment design, footwear design, leather design, textile design.

If you become a designer you can work in places like colleges and universities as lecturers, as a fashion show organizer, in boutiques, import-export houses, textile mills, and clothing stores.

You can work as a designer, fashion stylist, pattern maker, fashion assistant, fashion coordinator, quality controller, or design manager.

When it comes to fees, it varies from subject to subject. A simple B.Sc in fashion design costs between 30000 to 50000 per year.  A diploma in fashion design of one year can cost between 25000 to 40000. A B.Sc in fashion design can cost between 50000 to 90000.
