I was born and raised in a family that addresses the actualities of women’s lives in the Indian society. I was allowed to study and get educated but under a periphery, that limits my dreams. Since my childhood, I had a passion for making something of my own. Designing apparel uplifts me. It gives me a sense of fulfilment, a feeling that is extremely superior to all the challenges that I have faced being a part of a conventional and an orthodox family. My father was disheartened when he came to know about my aim of becoming a designer.
Today, I am a part of one of the foremost design institutions of India. And, I design clothes. I have never been so confident and proud of myself. I pledge that one day my parents will wear garments labelled by me. And on that day, I am going to shout out to more than half a billion of the women in the world who are ignored. “If I can do it, you can too.”
