Guide for Fashion Students for Developing the Pattern

Saturday, April 10th, 2021

From start to finish, this comprehensive guide will teach you the fundamentals of clothing pattern making. Create a ready-to-wear pattern, a one-of-a-kind pattern, and all in between. You’ll learn how to create patterns from the ground up, as well as how to manipulate them to get the perfect match.

What is pattern making?

The method of developing a template for your garment is known as pattern making. To sew a dress, a pattern is used as a template to cut out fabric that meets the appropriate requirements. It takes into account the type of fabric, the wearer’s intended fit, and any trims that may be used. The pattern is used to ensure the two-dimensional fabric sits correctly on a three-dimensional body.

Tools Required for Pattern Making?

The most popular methods of pattern construction are draping and flat patterning. Each solution requires slightly different resources to complete the mission.

Draping is a technique for achieving a desired look by manually manipulating fabric on a dress form. A dress pattern, fabric (your own or a less expensive fabric of identical weight and drape qualities), buttons, pattern paper, a French curve, and a French curve.

Wrap the fabric around the form so it looks the way you want it to, then mark it while it’s still on the form. After that, the fabric is stripped and laid flat. A French curve and ruler are used to tidy up the lines. The designs on the fabric are then transferred to pattern paper. After that, you’d add seam allowances, notches, and other required markings, and finally, you’d true your patterns. Later on, we’ll talk about what all of those terms mean.

Draping is a lot of fun, and it’s often appropriate for really complicated folds, but it’s not as effective or precise as a flat pattern.

As the name suggests, a flat pattern is created on a flat surface. Template paper, a French curve, a straight ruler, and a pencil are used to make manual flat patterns. CAD software is used to create digital flat patterns. If you’re working online or by hand, the drafting methods for making flat patterns are the same.

How to Determine the Body Measurements?

It is important to use the right body measurements when making a well-fitting garment. But how do you figure out what your body proportions should be? It all depends on who you’re making something for!

If you’re making a custom garment for yourself or someone else, you can use the end wearer’s actual body measurements to build your pattern. To document all of the necessary measurements, you’d usually use a measurement sheet like this one.

But what if you’re a mass-market clothing manufacturer? A more comprehensive body measurement is required. To create the patterns you need, you can find proper body data in a number of ways. The ASTM body data is made up of hundreds of thousands of body scans collected from a number of sources. Alvanon and Human Solution, for example, are third-party body data specialists who can help you customise your data to your specific needs.

What is a Basic Pattern?

A simple pattern, also known as a block pattern, corresponds to body measurements and has only wearing ease. Basic patterns are critical for ensuring that a brand’s fit is consistent. Consistency of fit ensures that your customers will buy their size with confidence each time they buy a product from you, knowing that it will fit. Using a simple pattern library as a starting point for all of your style patterns is the best way to develop this faith.

A good simple pattern library can give you patterns with only the requisite seams for fit and the appropriate amount of wearing ease for the fabrics they’re designed for.

Perfecting the Fit

You’ll have a fitting after you’ve finished your pattern and sewn your first sample. It’s possible that you’ll need to make some changes to the suit. There are a variety of reasons why a pattern may not be flawless the first time. Things like the drape of the cloth, any shrinkage that may occur during the sample’s processing, differences in the wearer’s measurements from the drafted body, and so on.

The most popular changes are bust adjustments, which are particularly common on woven garments, to ensure that darts land in the right place. Shoulder slope, raise shape, and neckline adjustments are also common fit adjustments.

All of these things are part of the standard pattern-making procedure, and they can be changed on your patterns after they’ve been fitted.

Garment Pattern Making Process and Steps

Friday, April 9th, 2021

A pattern maker’s importance and significance in the fashion industry cannot be overstated. A pattern maker may transform a fashion designer’s idea or imagination into something real. Anyone who designs garment patterns based on ideas/sketches given by Fashion Designers/Design Teams’ ideas/sketches is known as a pattern maker. The pattern makers practice, perf, and knowledge of a design decide its long-term viability. As we all know, Fabric is the most important component of a dress, accounting for roughly half of the overall cost. As a result, if an effective pattern maker can save 1% on fabric costs, the average profit margin would increase. As a result, we can quickly see how important a pattern maker is in the apparel industry in terms of profit margins. As a result, garment industry owners emphasise forming an active pattern design team to reduce production costs.

A Pattern Maker Working Procedure is Mentioned Below:

A) Examine the Worksheet

1) For a better understanding, all of the packages/programs must be thoroughly reviewed point by point. For this task, the pattern maker should collaborate with the concerned merchandiser regularly.

2) Request that the merchandiser include all relevant details or a copy of the product manual for you to study.

3) It’s important to double-check that all of the shipments are fully comprehended. It would be preferable if you could get a comparison sample from the buyer’s end to check.

4) Before beginning the pattern, you must know the sample production schedule and dispatch time.

5) If you have any doubts or questions, you can address them before creating a pattern.

(B) Basic Pattern

1) To avoid a fit issue, check previous seasons or the buyer’s note block.

2) Calculate the block and write the measurement next to the new style measurement board.

3) Block should be meticulously rectified in preparation for a new style.

4) For sewing, use a loose measurement and refer to a previous similar style.

5) Take the concept line from the label sample or diagram into consideration.

6) If possible, copy the pattern construction from the previous style

7) To create a new style pattern, label and pin a sample.

8) Update comments should be applied to prevent any incomplete or incorrect information.

C) Design Pattern

1) Before designing a new style, the pattern maker must have a thorough understanding of the construction.

2) Must comprehend the significance of notches, as well as interior and exterior design details.

3) Need to know how to calculate seam allowances based on machine and product construction.

4) Include fabrication as specified in the BOM, and compare sketch data.

5) Create a lining pattern based on the theme of the shell pattern.

6) Double-check the entire style pattern once it’s completed, including the join seam, fabrication, notches, internals, seam allowance, and all sections.

7) If necessary, the pattern maker can mock-up key points to match the sample and consult with senior designers.

8) When creating a washing style pattern, the pattern maker must account for fabric shrinkage and take special precautions to avoid measuring errors.

(D) Making Markers

1) Create a proper model with all of the required patterns and fabrication.

2) Check fabrication with fabric form, and all pattern parts are present before starting the marker, pattern, and marker man to avoid any missing or mistakes.

3) The fabric width details should be collected by the marker man.

(E) Sewing Pattern

1) Carefully research the buyer’s spec sheet, draw details, and adhere to all of their sewing pattern guidelines.

2) You must print out all necessary patterns and be ready to sew.

3) The whole finish pattern should be a plot finish pattern, not an allowance finish pattern.

4) Seniors can double-check all key positions.

A pattern creator must also maintain the following responsibilities:

As we all know, if a pattern maker makes an error, the garments business will suffer a significant loss. As a result, garment owners should place a premium on the pattern section and provide a motivating work environment. It’s human nature for people to pay more attention to their responsibilities when they have more.

1) To be enthusiastic about pattern production daily, with no compromise on product consistency of measurement.

2) Must find a fast solution to any pattern-related problems that occur during bulk processing and determine root causes to eliminate hassles and take prompt corrective action.

3) To be honest, in meeting buyer demand to increase product quality.

4) Maintain contact with the concerned parties through e-mail or other means.

5) Encourage and train subordinates to develop their abilities.

6) For any practical requirements, communicate with Merchandiser, CAD, Cutting, Printing, Embroidery, QC, and the Sewing Floor.

7) Insufficiently committed to achieving the company’s objectives

8) Adhere to higher management’s instructions as soon as possible.

9) Should be well-versed in using equipment/machinery on the manufacturing floor to ensure product consistency during pattern making.

Basic Concept of Drawing for Jewelry Design

Friday, April 9th, 2021

What is jewellery designing?

The practice or trade of designing and making jewellery is known as jewellery design. This is one of the earliest examples of decoration in culture, dating back at least 7,000 years to Mesopotamia and Egypt’s oldest known human civilizations. From basic beadwork in ancient times to intricate metalworking and gem cutting in modern times, the craft has taken many forms over the years. A jewellery designer skilled in the architectural and practical knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, composition, wearability, and label, creates extensive technical sketches before an item of jewellery is made.

Traditional hand-drawing and drafting techniques are still used in jewellery design, particularly during the conceptual stage. However, computer-aided design programs are becoming more popular. Rather than a professional craftsman actually translating a hand-illustrated gem into wax or metal. A CAD model is sometimes used as the foundation for a CNC cut or 3D printed ‘wax’ pattern for rubber moulding or lost wax casting.

Following the completion of the conceptual/ideation phase, the template is made and constructed using the appropriate materials for proper adaptation to the object’s purpose. Since it was more available than silver as a source material, 24K gold was used in ancient jewellery design. Many civilizations used beads in their jewellery until the 1st century. The practice of jewellery ornamentation and design changed after gemstones were discovered and gem cutting became more widely available. The first recorded gemstone cut was made by Theophilus Presbyter, a goldsmith who studied and produced many applied arts. Later, in the fourteenth century, developed medieval lapidary technology.

Drawing your own jewellery designs can be useful in a variety of situations. Perhaps you’re training to be a jewellery designer or starting your own handmade label and want to learn how to put your ideas on paper. Maybe you have a concept for a custom piece of jewellery that you’d like to have created, and being able to express the idea more effectively would aid the jewellery maker in creating the piece you’ve pictured. Or maybe you have a passion for design and jewellery and want to create some artwork to decorate your home. Whatever the situation, watching this new series will assist you in achieving your objectives.

This article will focus on the art and techniques of drawing jewellery, in which we will go through the main topics to consider before picking up the pencil.

Perspective

Perspective is an important idea to grasp because it will make or break your ability to express your design. The good news is that when drawing jewellery, you just need to use a one-point view, which means things won’t get too complicated.

Scale and Proportions

It cannot be overstated how important it is to scale the designs correctly when drawing them. Clips, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are usually drawn at a 1:1 ratio since they are small objects that fit perfectly on a sheet of paper (meaning true to life). However, you may want to adjust the scale sometimes, for example, to get a better look at the tiny gems or features by drawing a more significant piece. It’s always important to pay attention to the size you’re using on the drawing, but it’s essential for closeups.

The same can be said for proportions. If you don’t keep proper proportions, the pattern will lose its form and become a completely different product. Clips, earrings, and necklaces are so tiny and intricate that even a subtle change in proportions will make a significant and visible difference for the best or the worst.

Wearability and Comfort

This one is more about creative freedom and personal preference. You may want to build something simple and small or something large and extravagant, depending on the piece’s role and intent. In terms of practicality, you’d like the style to be wearable and comfortable. Still, your goal may be to make an artistic item that isn’t intended to be worn every day and isn’t expected to be comfortable, such as a bulky necklace with many large jewels. As a result, you should think about wearability and comfort but not strictly adhere to them.

If you are passionate about jewellery designing, learning from the best institutes becomes necessary to stand apart from the crowd. JD Institute Of Fashion Technology is one of the best institutes providing jewellery designing courses with subjects like design thinking and process, jewellery illustration and rendering, metallurgy and gemology studies, design realization, etc. Along with other courses, all of which are industry-based or focused on providing an environment to the students where they are ready for the real world beforehand, for example- an international exchange program, learning from industry experts etc. with reasonable jewellery designing fee. Due to their exemplary contribution to education, JD Institute has been awarded various token of appreciation such as the times’ power icon award, international glory award, best vocational education institute of the year and many more. They also reflect a record-breaking placement of 99%, reflecting a perfect balance between talent and opportunity with their students working for top companies such as Tommy Hilfiger, Zara, Sabyasachi and PepperFry, to name a few.

Candidates are chosen using a general aptitude test (GAT) developed by the department to evaluate their technical or creative abilities. By providing helpful advice, the JD council will help you make contact with the college and other students after graduation. Process of Pattern Development

Thursday, April 8th, 2021

To develop patterns to fulfil the objective or wants of the audience, following the correct procedure is necessary. JD Institute Of Fashion technology is here with a step by step guide of pattern development for the aspiring designers to be influential:

  • Pattern Making

The creation of patterns is the first step in the garment production process. A drawing, garment, or sloper pattern in a base is used to create the pattern (one-size). After making the base size pattern, it can be sewn and tested for fit and aesthetics. Technical Specs are also available and encouraged to be included with each pattern for creation and production purposes. Technical specifications are demanded in bulk or on a page-by-page basis. The following are examples of typical Spec pages for the pattern Making stage: Cutters Must, Prototype POM, Header-Sketch

  • Pattern Digitizing

Do you already have a paper pattern that you’d like to import into the CAD program? The digital pattern can be used for future pattern designs, access to digital archives, grading, and accelerating the creation and production process. Each piece of the paper pattern is measured and digitized in the CAD software, saved and used to begin or continue the creation process.

  • Sewing

It is strongly praised that you sew your base size pattern after finishing your first pattern to check fit and appearance. The garment is usually made of fabric with the same or similar shape, weight, and other attributes as the replica production fabric. Sew up the standardized sizes to double-check until moving on to large-scale production if the suit’s first design has also been approved.

  • Fitting and Pattern Revisions

You’ll want to see how your prototype/first pattern looks and works on your base size model after you’ve finished sewing it up. It will make some changes and revisions to the garment before being moved back to the pattern pieces. These modifications or enhancements aid in improving fit or changing style lines to suit the design requirements. A pattern revision stage is what it’s called.

  • Pattern Grading

After the first pattern is sewn up and meets the client’s ideal aesthetics and fit, it is deemed “Fit Approved.” Then it’s time to move on to pattern scoring. APM will grade the pattern up and downsizes based on the existing sample base size pattern. Grading can be done by the given size map, use your grade table/rules, etc. To begin grading, a list of sizes, whether numerical, alpha, or alphanumeric, as well as a size chart that reflects your size range can be sent to companies providing Pattern making services or can be done yourself by learning the art of pattern making. If clients wish, a “Graded POM” spec and “POM Size Run” with different sizes of increase/decrease sizes can be produced. These specifications do not include a graded pattern and must be purchased separately from the patterns at an extra cost or included in your project estimate.

  • PDF or Illustrator Sewing Pattern Layouts

For use as a PDF file form, single size and graded size patterns are set up in different page size templates. For your customers to be able to download and print pages as well as assemble page templates for cutting and sewing your designs

  • Marker

Each fabric form that your pattern design comes in is marked with markers. All pattern parts and sizes will be laid out on the marker so that you waste as little fabric as possible when cutting it out. Pattern bits are butted up against each other in the correct grain direction to be cut with the fabric folded out flat and several fabric layers stacked on top of each other. Depending on the fabric specifications, markers are rendered in a number of widths.

  • Technical Packet

Technical packets are made up of different specification pages that tell designers, firms, and factories how to cut/sew pattern pieces in specific fabrics/colours. Also, where to put trim/findings, how to sew patterns together, what garments should weigh in particular areas of the garment, and spec each phase of the development/sample/production process so that everybody is on the same page of what the end product should look like. Each page contains various details ranging from the planning stage to the production stage. Tech Packets/Specs may be bought as part of a project or on their own.

Personal Styling A Lucrative Career Option

Thursday, April 8th, 2021

While many professionals in the fashion industry may enjoy shopping and getting dressed every day and therefore do not see the appeal of making anyone else do it for us, many others do not and still want to look good and be on-trend.

A personal stylist advises their clients about what clothes to wear in public to project their ideal image. It is their responsibility to ensure that the client is dressed appropriately and that the accessories complement the look. Personal stylists must bring together an outfit that is fashionable and meets the client’s needs. They must build a one-of-a-kind look for each client based on their preferences. The personal stylist would need to teach their clients how to create a new picture for them and gain their approval.

Personal stylists must also build various looks based on the client’s physical characteristics to determine which type best fits them. Personal stylists also advise clients about what accessories and footwear would complement the outfits they have chosen. Personal stylists often match accessories to the wardrobes they choose for their customers. While personal stylists often work with clothing, shoes, and footwear, they can also assist a customer with hair and makeup and edit their home decor. Even though most people equate personal stylists with actors, they can be recruited by anybody who requires their services. Personal stylists may also invite clients to shop with them, or they may shop for them alone.

Who can go for this lucrative career option?

Individuals with strong interpersonal abilities should consider pursuing a career as a personal stylist. Individuals should be able to communicate with people of various cultures, ages, and other demographics. Personal stylists must also have a fashion sense and choose clothing and accessories that are appropriate for the client. In addition, personal stylists must keep up with the latest fashion trends. They must also be imaginative people.

Personal stylists must also be charming and communicate well verbally. They must have a keen eye for information as well. Candidates for the role of personal stylist must also have outstanding persuasion skills. To be effective in this area, you must interact with your clients.

What are the Perks of Being a Personal Stylist?

One of the most appealing aspects of working as a personal stylist is that it is a fascinating career. It will not become tedious to shop for new people each time. Also, because of the new clients that the work brings, they can make personal connections. Personal stylists would also wander the city in search of unique bargains, giving them the benefit of not being in one location simultaneously. If you enjoy shopping, this is a great career to have.

How is Life?

Personal stylists work out of their homes. These offices have a noisy and chaotic atmosphere. Personal stylists will also spend a significant amount of time shopping for their clients’ clothing, accessories, and footwear. They work regular hours, usually changing their schedule to accommodate their clients’ needs.

Personal stylists may be required to work evenings and weekends on occasion. Many who work as personal stylists on their own usually work in less pleasant conditions and are under more stress. To reach their deadlines, personal stylists can work long hours at times. When stylists go to fashion shows or other activities around the world, they must travel.

Challenges in This Career Option?

Becoming a personal stylist is stressful, and there is a lot of responsibility to satisfy the clients’ demands. For most stylists, taking a day off is not a choice. A personal stylist’s salary may also be variable, which is a disadvantage to this profession. Furthermore, impressing clients in a short period is needed, which may be a challenge for some stylists.

How to Be Ahead of the Game?

While a personal stylist does not require formal education, having one is a plus. Personal stylists should concentrate on their style to make their clients feel secure in their skills. They can build a portfolio of friends or family members that they have assisted initially to show clients.

As the first step towards a successful career in personal styling or fashion styling is education, a good institution’s best education should be kept in mind. JD Institute Of Fashion Technology is one of the best institutes with a legacy of over 32 years in art or creativity. 9 Styling Tricks to Make You Look More Beautiful During Lockdown

Wednesday, April 7th, 2021

Those in the fashion industry have an arsenal of basic (yes, really) styling tricks that can be used to elevate an outfit regardless of the season or lockdown tier they’re in. Some are personal to the individual, having evolved through years of style experimentation, while others are universal. Are you ready for a dose of Fashion with a capital F? Begin with these nine tips:

  • Allow Some Screentime to Partywear

Spare a thought for the sequins yearning to be freed from the constraints of the wardrobes they’ve been shoved to the back of for the past year — the fashion set is about to do just that. Designers from Valentino to Celine championed the return of high-shine glitz for the season ahead at the spring/summer 2021 shows. We expect that those in the know won’t wait for the latest collections to drop but will instead do what they’ve always done: pull out the sparkle whenever they see fit to flaunt a great ‘fit – which is currently a WFH Zoom call. Design insiders have long known not to reserve their sparkle for just after midnight, whether it’s a complete top-to-toe disco look or a T-shirt worn with a sequin skirt. Sequins look fantastic under the glow of a disco ball, but have you ever seen them in the cold light of day? The atmosphere improved.

  • Thrown Over Shoulders

This is the oldest trick in the book, and it never fails to work. To pull it off, you don’t need to be a Marvel superhero; however, good posture helps. It pairs well with every jacket style and immediately elevates whatever you’re wearing, even if it’s just a Nike sweatshirt wrapped around your neck for a Google hangout.

  • Dare to Do Socks with Sandals

People in the fashion industry enjoy defying the rules of what is considered trendy, particularly in recent years as “ugly” fashion has become popular. The stereotypical tourist-style socks and sandals best capture this idea. This mix immediately brings a touch of knowing insouciance to the most low-key of styles, and it’s not just a perfect way to break on your highest heels. Take it a step further by wearing noisy socks with controversial Crocs for a complete look. As you log your stay-at-home sartorial trip, you’ll be sure to win style points.

  • Go Heavy with the Hair Ornaments

Hair accessories come in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from large velvet bows to grosgrain ribbons, pearl slides to pastel resin clips, and they can add a chic touch to even the most hurriedly put-together outfit. Add-ons don’t get any more entertaining than this, so take advantage of it. Add a slew of them, or go for a retro vibe with a single standout slide or ribbon wrapped around a well-placed bun or bouncy ponytail.

  • Make Your Phone Your Ultimate Accessory

Fashionistas are busy all the time, and what becomes the ultimate symptom of staying busy? Of Course, the phone is glued to your hand at any moment. Make sure your phone looks a part of your look as well.

  • Layer, Layer, Layer

Layering your favourite items will help you get the most out of your wardrobe. The style elite is wearing dresses over trousers, but that isn’t the only story. Working with pre-existing pieces in new and exciting combinations is brilliant because you can discover and put together pairings that no one else would be able to duplicate, particularly if you add vintage pieces. Play with textures and lengths by pairing a flowing skirt with an oversized hoodie and tucking a favourite knit into your favourite party dress for an on-the-go look.

  • Don’t Go Back to Basics

Making the best of a bad situation is a term we’ve become used to hearing, and it also applies to fashion. So, when the time comes for that one daily stroll, go all out. The ultimate way to refresh wardrobe staples is with accessories, and a handbag is a quick way to do so. A fabulously fun bag will brighten up your promenade, even though you don’t want to get out of your pyjamas. To turn heads and add a little something special to the daily grind, ditch the practicality and embrace a talking point theme.

  • Consider the Colours Cleverly

When it comes to the most fashionable people’s wardrobes, nothing happens by chance. Some looks benefit from being chosen from a palette of colours all in tune, while others opt for a kaleidoscope of colours. Alternatively, go all-black. There is also nothing more stylish.

  • Sunglasses, Always

Easy rule: never leave home without sunglasses. If it’s an aviator or a Wayfarer, a bug or a cat-eye, the choice is yours. The ultimate fashion (with a capital ‘F’) finishing touch to every look is a great pair of sunglasses.

If you have a strong interest in fashion styling or want to make a career out of it, you’ll need an education from a reputable university, as well as webinars and workshops that are held for the benefit of students or to educate them. How to Style Up with Summer Dresses

Wednesday, April 7th, 2021

When the weather’s hot and you don’t have much time to prepare your wardrobe, who doesn’t enjoy the simplicity of a summer dress? About the fact that many of us are remaining local this summer, I believe dresses are having their moment in the heat! But why should that discourage us from sporting a fabulous summer gown we’d normally save for a beach vacation or an island getaway? Dresses are a simple thing to style and can be very flattering if you know what looks good on you. There are so many amazing options in-store and online, and now that we can go to a physical store, it’s even more of a reason to buy!

  • The Shirt Dress

One of the best models because of its flexibility as well as its traditional tailoring. The shirt dress is a wardrobe staple that can be styled in a variety of ways, from work to weekend, summer to winter, with only a few changes in accessories.

Because of its elastic waist, the shirt dress flatters a variety of body types. You can wear it with or without the belt, and when you do, you can change it to fit your natural waist. Choose a length that flatters your figure. If you’re petite, a midi style is possible; just choose your shoes carefully.

  • The T-shirt Dress

This is a perfect summer casual simple dress to have in your closet for those lazy days. You’re good to go with a sandal or sneaker (or thongs! ), a sun hat, and a casual crossbody bag. Simply throw on your favourite denim jacket and swap out your sandals for sneakers as the weather cools. If you want to cover your upper arms, go for a t-shirt or a tank if you want to expose a little more skin.

  • The Linen Shift

This is a perfect option for those who choose to bear their weight in the tummy and torso but want to show off their legs. A shift dress’s form skims the chest without a seam across the waist, allowing the eye’s line to continue up and down the body (i.e. does not highlight the widest point)

  • The A-Line

An A-line shaped dress is another perfect look for those who choose to cover their midriffs and hide many sins (or indulgences). This is a fun style that is both feminine and comfortable. Look for styles with an open neckline or a button-down option if you have a large bust.

  • The Mini Dress

While the midi and maxi lengths are certainly on-trend for summer 20/21, the mini dress is here to stay. Some of you might be intimidated by a long dress, and why hide your best asset if it’s your legs?

  • The Sundress

The sundress is a classic summer style that genuinely embodies summer dressing. It’s ideal for women who are narrower on top and broader on the bottom (i.e. pear-shaped), as it draws attention to the waist and upper body while balancing the lower body.

  • The Shredded/Puff Sleeve Smock

Anything with a puff sleeve or a shirred bodice (better yet, both!) is quite 2021, and anything with a puff sleeve or a shirred bodice (better yet, both!) is probably the ‘IT’ dress of the season. They have a feminine feel while providing upper arm coverage, and the empire line cut that nips you in just below the bust will help to define your waist. Only don’t pass yourself off as a German beer waitress!

  • Maxi Halter

Anything with a halter neck is ideal for accentuating a narrow shoulder or showing off toned shoulders, which is another summer classic. It’s amazing how the clean shoulder line contrasts with the fullness of the maxi length. This style and length can be worn by any height if you don’t mind showing off your arms and shoulders.

Where Should Spiritual Altars be Placed in Your Home?

Tuesday, April 6th, 2021

Vastu Shastra, which literally means “the science of architecture,” sets out the plan, construction, proportions, ground planning, room configuration, and spatial geometry rules for a home or other built-up building, often integrating conventional Hindu (and even Buddhist) religious beliefs. Vastu Shastra ideas and principles are templates for organising space and shape within a room or a group of rooms or structures based on their functions in relation to one another, as well as their purpose and use.

A house is called a living soul in Vastu Shastra, which strives to balance the five elements (earth, fire, water, space, and air) to attain the highest degree of positive energy. Each home or living room has its energy, and a house must radiate the right kind of energy in order to be harmonious and peaceful. The mental health of each living member is affected by the energy of the household. Vastu not only portrays architectural ideas for designing a building, but it also includes instructions for home interior design, such as room layouts and decorations. You may be blessed to have already a Vastu-compliant home or building (including office spaces), but if that is not the case and you do want a Vastu-compliant home, the ancient guide reflects ways as to how we can negate the negative energies or rectify the structures which are ill-placed

Vastu shastra for pooja rooms are highly recommended because the pooja room is an epicentre of positive energy. Due to a lack of space or other limitations, it is often missed or overlooked, but having a pooja room or a mandir at home is a sure-fire way to keep negative vibrations at bay.

But where do you even begin?

Don’t worry; JD Institute Of Fashion Technology is here to guide you through the process of transforming your pooja room into an oasis of peace and positivity using Vastu Shastra principles:

The direction of the pooja room ( According to Vastu Shastra or Vastu Shastra tips)

  • The northeast corner of the house is ideal for the mandir. If that doesn’t suit your needs, the north and east corners would. If nothing else works, the West is an alternative. Avoid finding the pooja room in the south, however.
  • When offering prayers, try to hold your face to the north or east.
  • It is considered inauspicious to put the pooja room under a staircase or against the wall of a bathroom.
  • To get the best performance, put the pooja ghar on the ground floor of your house. According to Vastu, mandirs should not be installed in basements or on upper floors.
  • If you live in a north or east-facing flat, align the pooja room to the northeast, east, or north.

Vastu Design for Pooja Room, Colours and Direction of Idols of God

  • Idols in the pooja room should not face each other or the door, and they should preferably be positioned in the northeast, away from the wall.
  • Don’t use the pooja room for something else, and don’t bring too much stuff here. Place cupboards to the west or south if you must have storage choices.
  • Ascertain that the pooja room’s doors and windows face north or east.
  • Place the lamps and Agni Kund in the southeast corner of the pooja room, and make sure the idols are not chipped or broken.
  • Copper vessels should be used in the pooja room because they are considered auspicious.
  • If necessary, build a pyramid-shaped tower for the pooja space to optimise positive vibrations. According to Vastu, a threshold to the pooja room is also beneficial.
  • The pooja room door should ideally have two shutters, one of which should be made of wood.
  • In the pooja room, avoid pictures of the deceased or paintings depicting violence.
  • For the pooja room, white, light blue, yellow, or other subtle, soothing shades are good Vastu colours.

Which way should God face when he’s at home? In the pooja room, idols must not face one another or the door. They should preferably be in the northeast but not too close to the wall.

Mandir in the Living Room, Kitchen and Other Areas

  • You can position the mandir in the living room or the kitchen, as long as it faces northeast.
  • Getting a mandir in the bedroom is not a good idea. However, if you must, position it in the bedroom’s northeast corner.
  • When sleeping, bear in mind that your feet do not point towards the mandir.

Vastu Shastra for Your Kitchen

Tuesday, April 6th, 2021

Vastu Shastra, which literally translates to “architecture theory,” sets out the concepts of design, planning, proportions, ground planning, room configuration, and spatial geometry for a home or any built-up structure; it may incorporate traditional Hindu (and even Buddhist) religious beliefs. Vastu theories include suggestions and principles for creating a living environment that is in harmony with nature, rather than being limited to linear structure diagrams and including geometric shapes, symmetry, and directional alignments. Vastu Shastra’s ideas and principles are templates for the organization of space and shape within a room or a group of rooms or structures, based on their roles in relation to one another, as well as their meaning and use. Although Vastu Shastra offers guidance and instructions for the design of all rooms in a house, including the bedroom, kitchen, dining room, playroom, home office, prayer room, and outdoor spaces, its science has also been extended to the development of villages, townships, parks, highways, waterworks, and other large public spaces. Each home or living room has its own energy, and a house must radiate the right kind of energy to be harmonious and peaceful. The vitality of the household, at the end of the day, will have an effect on the emotional health of each living member.

Vastu Shastra architecture is based on the idea of a structure and its construction. A home’s exterior form, or shell, may assist in channelling positive energies and preventing adverse outcomes.

  • Plots that are symmetrical or right-angled in shape, such as rectangles

or square, function well as Vastu values conductors. There is Financial development which is aided by plot shapes, offering wealth and the house is filled with joy.

  • Irregular or curved shaped structures (oval, circular, or semi-circular) are not auspicious, according to ancient science, since they limit an individual’s development and cause a number of health issues, losses, and a general lack of satisfaction in the household.

Are you considering a kitchen renovation?

You’ll like to make it Vastu-compliant! The kitchen, after all, is associated with the element of fire. A fine balance of energies, according to Vastu Shastra principles, will ensure that positivity, good health, and happiness reign in your home.

Wondering where to start? Don’t fret, JD Institute Of Fashion Technology has got your back with simple and effective Vastu Shastra tips that you can follow to make your kitchen healthy:

The Direction of the Kitchen

  • It’s better to put your kitchen in the southeast, for this is where Agni, or the Lord of Flames, rules. If it isn’t feasible, the northwest will suffice. The sun and Mars are aligned in the south-eastern sky, and the resulting energy destroys germs and promotes good health.
  • Avoid placing the kitchen in the north, southwest, or northeast, as this will cause marital strife and rifts in the family.
  • Is your kitchen, on the other side, facing north or northeast (for some inexplicable reason)? Don’t be concerned! You will mitigate this to some extent by orienting the stove to the southeast and making sure the northeast corner is clutter-free. Extend the northeast corner to make space for a pooja room or a wash area if the architecture allows. And if you have a window towards the northeast direction, make sure it is open at all times.
  • Place the kitchen in a northwest direction for a west or north-facing home, so you can cook when looking north. If your home faces east or south, the safest spot for the kitchen is on the southeast side.

Vastu Shastra Tips for Sink and Stove

  • Cooking must always be done with one’s back to the east. As a result, cooking appliances such as microwave ovens and gas stoves must be placed in this direction.
  • Place the kitchen sink in the direction of the north or northeast. It should not be placed in the same or parallel direction as the cooking platform. Fire and water, according to Vastu Shastra, are diametrically opposed and can have negative effects if both elements are present.
  • Place a bone china vase between the stove and the sink as a solution if they are close enough.

Vastu Colours for Kitchen

  • In the kitchen, colours like yellow, orange, pink, and brown can be used instead of black.
  • Make sure the windows face east or north for optimum natural light.

15 Simple Tips as Per Vastu for Toilets and Bathrooms

Monday, April 5th, 2021

Vastu Shastra, or “architecture theory,” sets out the concepts of design, layout, proportions, ground planning, space organisation, and spatial geometry for a home or any built structure; it may also incorporate traditional Hindu (and even Buddhist) religious beliefs. Rather than being limited to static layout diagrams, Vastu theories incorporate geometric patterns, symmetry, and direction. Vastu theories include concepts and principles for designing a living space in tune with nature, rather than being confined to static layout diagrams and incorporating geometric patterns, symmetry, and directional alignments.

It’s a good idea to check whether the bathrooms and toilets are matched, according to Vastu, whether you’re moving into a new home or remodeling an existing one.

A clean bathroom and toilet that follow Vastu Shastra concepts will do a lot of good for you, from removing negativity to enhancing your overall health and happiness.

While Vastu Shastra recommends keeping the bathroom and toilet separate, this isn’t always possible, particularly if you live in an apartment.

Nonetheless, you can turn your bathroom and toilet into a sanctuary of peace and good health. JD Institute has bought some simple Vastu shastra tips or Vastu shastra for home:

Directions of Door, shower and toilet, according to Vastu Shastra.

  • The northwest corner of the house is perfect for toilets and bathrooms.
  • Stop building toilets in the southwest direction, as this is known to cause problems.
  • Ensure that the toilet’s entrance door is on the eastern or northern wall
  • In your bathroom, you should have windows that face east, north, or west.
  •  Constructing the toilet a few feet above ground level is a smart idea.
  •  For a bathroom and toilet combo, make sure the toilet is on the west or north side of the building. This is due to the toilet’s connection with waste disposal.
  • The shower or wash basin should be situated in the bathroom’s east, north, or northeast corner.
  •  Avoid sharing a toilet wall with the pooja room or the kitchen, as this can have negative consequences.
  •  Bathroom pipe outlets must be located in the north or east.

If your toilet is facing southwest, there are a few Vastu remedies that can help you repair it. Place a Vastu pyramid on the outer part of the southwest toilet wall, for example. Another choice is to keep the toilet doors shut all the time.

Vastu Tips for Bathroom Mirrors, Colours and More

  • The safest place to hang a mirror in the bathroom is to the north or east. You may place your washbasin in the appropriate location.
  • According to Vastu, soft pastel colours are perfect for the bathroom. Pink, grey, and light blue are recommended colours.
  • Never install a toilet under a stairwell. The space underneath the stairs may be used for storage, but it must not be used as a bathroom or toilet.
  • Since metal emits negative vibrations, wooden doors should always be used as entrance doors to toilets and bathrooms.
  • To the west or north, position an attached bathroom. It’s important to bear in mind that the bathroom should not be facing the bed.
