COVID-19 Will Impact the Future of Interior Design

Saturday, September 4th, 2021

The outbreak of the dangerous novel Coronavirus has created a significant impact on the regular social lives of the people. As a result, this has driven individuals to remain inside, keep a social separation with companions and family members, and increment the utilization of virtual media, which has changed the social texture these days. It has influenced the operations of numerous organizations in the whole world. In any case, a few organizations stay unaffected and have given a positive reaction than earlier with the introduction of the pandemic. One such business is interior designing.

Interior design is a notable business that incorporates inside space dealing with the house, office, or structures, alongside sufficient information regarding materials, shading, supportability, and sustainability. You can run this business expertly with the Bachelors of Interior Designing course as offered by the JD Institute of Fashion and Technology, the best interior designing school in India. In any case, as individuals have confined themselves to their homes for a long time, they have got more recognized with the internal spaces of their homes. Moreover, they have discovered diverse approaches to managing it with the other standard chores like working from home, home-schooling of kids, relaxing, and dining, which will undoubtedly impact the future of interior design. But, what will these impacts be?

Let’s find out the different ways COVID-19 can affect interior design.

The Pricing

Because of the pandemic, there has been an abrupt downturn in the interior designing sector, causing designers to lessen their market costs by some percent across the nation. Nonetheless, price doesn’t matter for the rich, yet the working class and poor people. As a result, architects will have no choice but to use modest materials to lower their costs, which are hard to maintain over time and affect their reputation in the industry.

The Color Trends

The color assumes an essential part in characterizing the attitude and personality of the client, and along these lines, it gains traction and notoriety. It is all dependent upon color psychology.

We have lost all the bright shades of life after the pandemic swept through our lives. Individuals these days are hence going for the dull shades which are trending. But, with time, a pattern of shadows will emerge a feeling of assurance and solace in the lives of individuals, i.e., the brilliant hues, as it will accompany the ‘great vibe factor’ and thus, our psyche being pleasing with the time.

The Product Development

The pandemic conditions have caused individuals to confine the investment of huge capital in the organizations, which has prompted the decrease in the production of materials and goods, for the most part, because the revenue-based organizations shut their activities. Because of the abrupt end of the creation, the organizations lost 80 to 90 percent of their revenue. Yet, as time will elapse and we will be out of this challenging stage, the organizations will work equivalent to previously. The client’s interest and production will meet, and there will be more advancement in the technology by the companies who have survived this pandemic.

The Spending Of The Client

Once the universities are finished, and designers step out of their comfort zone for interior designing jobs in actuality, they will come across the clients ready to spend a lump sum for the best services. The interior designing industry itself says that the increase in the sum paid by the clients will expand the demand for the designing elements and better interior designs. Additionally, by being at home all by themselves, individuals have run over any minor details, which for a long time did not receive attention. Still, they are now being worked on to make the inside of the house look more sophisticated.

The Workspace Of The Office

Life after COVID will be very different than it was before. Offices are needed to transform to meet the requirements of post-covid precautions, for which there will be a great need for the best designing thoughts for the best transformation. It will only matter when the in-house employees are permitted to work from home, which may take place in mid-August 2022; the number may increase if the situation continues to spiral out of control.

The Studio Operations

It isn’t easy to handle daily operations single-handedly. Thus, design studios come with trained and experienced staff to manage their operations and keep things up-to-date. In addition, this staff comes with the best skills abilities, such as empathy, patience, common sense, curiosity, and, most importantly, problem-solving skills, which frees the firm from recession and helps the staff take credit for their efforts to get the work done.

The Trade Shows

The design fairs are an essential part of the interior designing industry, which will not vanish even because of a worldwide pandemic. It may go through virtual segments; however, it needs human help and association for its appropriate working by the day’s end. As a result, this will prompt the introduction of the highly advanced models, tools, and stages for the better working of the virtual parts. It will carry life to the business during an unpleasant time and even feature the individual and the group behind the undertaking.

With time, there are many more effects in the designing industry that did not exist before because of COVID-19. When individuals are out of luck, they bring the best to make the work simple and refreshing, loaded with creativity. This innovativeness, abilities, and challenging work are encouraged among the originators with the specialized courses they seek after and by the school.

‘When you have got a passion, your dream awaits’. I would read such motivational quotes all the time but believed in none of them.

I remember observing my dad doing business, being his own boss and it eventually inspired me to follow in his footsteps, make him proud. Well, here is the thing we won’t know what we are doing this weekend but we decide on our career hastefully, and in later stages of our life it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I always had my own creative inclinations but fashion never crossed my mind. On one fine Tuesday morning when I was about to complete school, I realized I have always loved fashion, but it never seemed approachable. Suddenly all the quotes came in handy to push me in the direction of fashion. Thankfully, my parents were supportive and they didn’t give me a hard time.

Who knew the hard time had just begun. Looking for a college that would match my priorities and aspirations was a tough cut but JD made it. Now, two years later I am here and don’t regret a single decision made towards my career. The faculty is so supportive and motivates me to explore, inspire and create. I am grateful and the journey seems exciting. So it might take some time, but when your dream becomes a reality, you finally know it was all worth it.

If you can dream it, you can do it – Walt Disney

I remember watching Disney movies and all those pretty dresses, all the barbies, and making them for my dolls in my childhood. My real passion for designing originated from that phase of my life although I used to get scolded for damaging my mom’s sewing machine. I was always a very famous student when it comes to sketching and drawing during my school times but was really afraid when it comes to fashion. Every time when I was left alone in my house, I used to steal my mom’s dupattas and then make and drape garments out of them on me. As I was really appreciated for my height, being an IPS officer was what my father wanted me to be but I choose to be different. I believe you just need to figure out what you can do perfectly. So I followed my heart and chose fashion designing as my career. As having no one around to guide me on what to do, I went for a one-year diploma in my own hometown Jammu. Later I realized that for doing something big I have to step out and after researching for top colleges in fashion I came across JD INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY and I can see myself growing and becoming more confident in my skills day by day.

I believe I can do something really big in this industry and JD INSTITUTE after being so supportive is being my ladder to success.

Myths About the Fashion Industry

Saturday, August 14th, 2021

Fashion is not just a word but a world of its own. It corresponds to so many feelings and a lot of dreams behind them. Fashion may seem like a dream world, but the industry has a reputation as a competitive one, and so many myths circulate in and around it. It is not a cakewalk, and nothing is in today’s world, but the tales are making it a bigger deal than it is. For starters, people think that they can only get in based on nepotism or some high big shot education. I don’t know who started this, but this is one big fat lie, and there are numerous like these that collapses the confidence of newcomers. Various sites and colleges like JD Institute Of Fashion Technology will offer you guidance and learning opportunities. If you are someone who is a fresher with a non-fashion background, then give this a read.

  • TALENT > BACKGROUND

Who on earth started this that a fashion background is vital to start your fashion career. Recruiters seek hard work and not background. As mentioned earlier, you don’t need a fancy fashion degree or some vast fashion background to start your fashion career. What you need is passion, enthusiasm, and some out of the box thinking. Let your creative instincts flow, and be ready to work hard. Sure, a degree in fashion is an advantage, but that doesn’t mean if you are from a non-fashion background, then you can’t enter into the fashion industry. You can add on some short courses or learn a lot of new things online.

On the contrary, most famous fashion designers started with their creative instincts and not some high-fi degree. Entry-level jobs and internships are seeking your talent, hard work, and passion for fashion. The answer to how to become a fashion designer is pretty simple! All you need to do is step out and explore the opportunities.

  • CRISP RESUME > LONG RESUME

Okay, so whoever started this one, let’s end it here for once and for all. A two-page resume may not take you anywhere in fashion, while a short and crisp one can take you places. You don’t need to mention a ten pointer skill set but a skill set that will help you land a job in fashion. Always say relevant things as no one needs to know that you volunteered in an NGO or worked in a coffee shop. Build your resume according to the requirement, attach a cover letter and build a portfolio for your work because the recruiter wants to see it. They are seeking fresh talent, and when you exhibit that through a well-built resume, you have won half of the battle. Always keep in mind your resume represents you, so make sure you have got yourself a good one.

  • LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES

What? Well, if there is one thing fashion has, it is vast opportunities. Buying, merchandising, retailing, designing, construction, blogging, styling, and so much more, fashion is as limitless as an ocean, and there is so much you can do here. A fashion designer salary can reach six figures in no time with the right amount of hard work and creativity. With so much to explore in this field, you need to find your forte and then work hard on it to achieve growth and explore endless opportunities, and who knows, in the long run, create some for the freshers.

  • A CAKEWALK

People often presume that fields related to artistic instincts are easy and undemanding, but on the opposite side, they require much more effort and constant learning. When learning fashion, people often say that you have to analyse the past, build the present while working for the future. You are the trendsetter, and it’s not easy to do so in the millennial generation. You have to study here as well, and there is a lot to learn. Don’t opt for fashion if you want to opt-out from studying or exams. This field is for the hard workers, those who never refrain from constantly updating themselves, and those in it to create a change and bring in a revolution. We do not mean to scare you, but hard work is necessary and a non-negotiable factor if you want to excel in any field.

  • FASHION IS ONLY FOR THE ARTISTIC ONES.

You can excel in the fashion field even if you don’t know how to draw. There, we said it. The fashion industry is much more than just sketching outfits. There is a lot that comes after and behind it. We live in the 21st generation, and computers and software can do the sketching part for you. Apart from that, there is so much more in the fashion industry, like styling, blogging, merchandising, etc. The fashion industry is limitless, and there is something in store for everyone.

  • ALL YOU NEED IS A DEGREE…!!!

A degree sure sounds great, but that is not it. It is a constant learning environment and if you want to make your name in the field, keep updating yourself. That means to keep learning and opt for those short courses from good institutes like JD Institute Of Fashion Technology and many others. Learning is a constant factor. Apart from that, you need to work on your creativity, think out of the box, and never hesitate to try new things. Don’t wait for the right time or experience to start your fashion career. Take the time and make it right! You will never build knowledge by sitting around if you will never begin. Passion is what the recruiters are seeking, be open to learning, and you will see your fashion career soaring up the heights. Summarising it by a quote from Zoey Zou- ‘To be successful in the fashion industry, you need to keep a young mindset’.
