Thursday, September 23rd, 2021

A fashion designer plans garments, frills, or shoes for shoppers and retail organizations. First, they make new plans that might utilize an assortment of materials and indicate the estimations of those plans. Finally, they settle on textures, tones, styles, and assistants to assemble the project during the planning cycle.

A fashion designer’s essential occupation is to make clothing, footwear, or embellishments. They pursue style directions to assist them with deciding a plan that would draw in clients. When a topic is selected, they make representations of a unique thought, put it in a PC configuration program (CAD), and calibrate as they come. By and large, a group will deal with a model plan and use models to decide how the plan will look. Most fashion designers go through an endorsement cycle, mainly when working for an organization. Whenever supported, the creation is created and offered to buyers. A plan creation generally includes around a half year of preparation and plan until the venture ends.

Things being what they are, it is challenging to be a fashion designer?

Exploring all kinds of trends and fashion designing methods

If you are energetic about it, it will be simple for you, regardless of whether an individual can outline whether S(He) is inventive or not. Developing expertise takes some time. The only important thing is whether you are sufficiently enthusiastic about hustling and gaining proficiency with the abilities or not.

It’s anything but a simple business, and there is something else to it besides a thought or a sketch. One must see how examples and tests work, work with materials and fittings, realize how the costing system works, have creation and delivery information, have the option to have a selling stage, and invoicing/banking, thus substantially more.

It is a business that is speedy and just however great as the current assortment may be.

It would help if you comprehended the business and most parts of it. It’s best to work under a fashioner for some time before considering whether you should go it alone.

Designing unique work like no other

Fashion designers are extremely industrious workers. They must make the most current plans for forthcoming seasons, regardless of whether it’s intended for men, ladies, or kids, and one of these will be your strength. They may even be shoes, sacks, shades, or whatever else.

Your work will be relentless, inventively requesting, and tedious. However, many fashion designers in the business have turned into an easily recognized name, and consistently, the design schools across the globe are producing thousands more.

In this highly competitive field, your work needs to stand out. What’s more, I mean you should work for quite a long time, at the plan table, yet in addition with your glasses on, noticing and drawing motivation from everything under the sun around you. Moreover, it would be best if you did a careful exploration of the business and forthcoming patterns.

From the materials that go with the flow design to the tones that will shake the show this season, you should follow what the style world is doing, however, not without your hint of inventiveness and originality.

Forging relationships and working with established brands

When discussing a fashion designer’s life, it becomes troublesome not to think about the glamourous part. No other calling includes spending time with models and famous people so regularly that too with genuine reason. Maintaining a real business in this universe of style, astonish, and loftiness carries a great deal with it. You invest a ton of energy with industry experts and obtain operational experience to refine your capacities and gain big-name status and regard. Moreover, a fashion designer’s work degree isn’t limited to models or the design business. A style creator is fundamental in various disciplines, from active apparel to film or dramatic ensembles.

Being a good manager

Innovation, individuality, originality, and inventiveness will lead you to your dreams. Notwithstanding, you would require the appropriate direction, preparation, skill, and experience.

Lamentably, however, this has all the earmarks of being fun and refreshing. When its oddity wears off, the only thing that will keep you going will be your obsession and obligation to the calling. The planning stage is brief, and outlining will take up around one-fourth of your time.

The remainder of the time, you will be occupied with working with patternmakers, fit models, merchandisers, and so forth to execute the plan. As a fashion designer, you’ll be liable for everything from overseeing spending plans to managing bills and solicitations, account freedom, pay rates, and that’s just the beginning.

Open to learning new things from your fellow designers

To make the best styles, fashion designers examine and gain from what different creators make. After investigating patterns and other originators’ work, fashion designers sketch their plans, pick the shadings and textures and administer the last creation of their manifestations. Clothing originators make casual wear, suits, active apparel, formalwear, outerwear, maternity, and underwear. Footwear originators work in shoes and boots, and adornment planners produce purses, belts, scarves, caps, hosiery, eyewear, and gems.

Practically nobody gets into the Fashion Industry except if they are genuinely enthusiastic about individuals needing to be in a fashion designing field. The fashion designer is craftsmanship, and individuals need to be style architects. The initial step to prevail in any artistic expression is enthusiasm about it. Planning begins with communicating your thoughts – as far as plans, colors, and so forth.

The fashion designer is undoubtedly an outstanding professional decision as it retains a splendid future because of its acquiring notoriety and consistent cash. The best part about style configuration is that it isn’t limited to just garments. It likewise involves embellishments, adornments, shoes, and some more.

Regardless of how overpowering this might sound, style planning is undeniably a phenomenal professional decision, as it has a bright future inferable from its expanding prevalence and substantial pay.

Who is a fashion director?

Tuesday, September 21st, 2021

A fashion director is an individual that manages the most common way of making, creating, and introducing content for the style division of a magazine, Web website, paper, or TV program. Crafted by a design proofreader can be very different and may hold a few obligations. However, there are sure abilities that many design chiefs have to achieve their commitments.

Fashion directors have unmistakable characters. They are unstructured, unique, nonconforming, and inventive. Some are additionally venturesome, which means they’re brave, yearning, self-assured, outgoing, vigorous, excited, sure, and hopeful.

Many people seek out critical terms or expressions in terms of finding a task. A fashion director must have the unique and time management capabilities that take them to their position as a fashion director. Most fashion directors secure places in the retail and media businesses, and many work with big celebrities and fashion houses. The opportunities are endless!

What is a fashion designer?

Fashion designers assist with making the billions of dresses, suits, shoes, and other apparel and frills bought each year by shoppers. Creators study style, sketch plans of clothing and extras, delicate shadings and textures, and manage the last creation of their plans.

Fashion designers hold a unique spot in our reality. Their ability and vision assume a significant part in what people look like and add to the social and social climate. They love to examine the style, sketch plans, select materials, and have a section in all the creative parts of their plans. As a result, they add to the formation of millions, if not billions, of garments and frills bought by purchasers consistently.

Creative planning

A fashion director partakes in pretty much every part of carrying design to the general population. Making the basic plan should be possible in an unexpected way. It can include storyboard withdrawals, working with a sham, and sewing bits of material together. This making stage is when the creator takes their vision twirling in the inner being and places it into a visual articulation. This first draft of the plan is then dealt with as the originator fosters the primary fundamental model.

Model Casting

A fashion director is required to analyze the style and aesthetic of the clothes and pick the models accordingly. They must also conduct the models’ auditions and choose the most professional and suitable ones according to the required work. Most architects have colleagues to assist with the many little subtleties, yet generally speaking, the creator holds complete control.

Styling

PC helped plan (CAD) is being utilized increasingly more in the style plan industry. Albeit most creators sketch plans manually, a developing number takes these hand outlines and puts them on the PC. Thus, the computer-aided design permits fashioners to take a gander at plans of attire on virtual models, and in many tones and shapes, in this manner saving time by requiring fewer changes later.

Being a manager

All through your vocation, you might have the chance to be a piece of a planning group or lead one of your own. When working with groups, carry your examination and thoughts to the table instead of hanging tight for heading. Listening is a massive piece of working together viably. You’re not building an assortment alone. It would help if you heard what your partners are saying to criticize and push your development plans.

Being on set

Independent creators typically work on a legally binding premise or by the work. They regularly need to change their workday to suit their customers’ timetables and cutoff times, meeting with the customers during nights or ends of the week. Independent fashioners will, in general, work longer hours and more modest conditions and feel the squeeze to satisfy customers and discover new ones to have consistent pay. Despite their work setting, all style originators periodically work extended periods to comply with time constraints or prepare for design shows.

Work accordingly

Huge plan houses enlist their example producers, tailors, and sewers who make the expert examples and sew the models. Architects working in small plan firms, or those new to the business, generally do the majority of the specialized example making and sewing errands and planning the dress. When the piece of clothing is ready, the architect will either adjust, scrap, or endorse the plan for appearing in an assortment.

Travel for business

The idea of the style business requires steady correspondence with providers, makers, and clients all over North America and the world. Many style planners travel a few times each year to exchange and mold shows to find out the most popular trend patterns. Architects may likewise go frequently to meet with texture and material providers and producers.

Shoot production

You should have the option to search for proper shoot areas and recruit models for something very similar. Besides, you will be planning with the Fashion Editor in supervising the turn of events and show of photoshoots for magazines and sites.

Planning production

The style architect’s following stage is to take the unpleasant sketch or show and foster a more explicit working example. Generally, the architect will make a harsh model of the plan by making a toile. Next, a rough plan model is made by cheap sewing material (like muslin) together. Finally, in design, the fashioner can see how the material will wrap and hold a human form when set on a life-sized dress stand.

Makeup trends and techniques for 2021

Sunday, September 19th, 2021

The trends in makeup and fashion change quite frequently, and it is essential to keep pace with it because it gets better and more upgraded with every passing year. Therefore, for every aspiring makeup artist in India, JD Institute of Fashion and Technology brings you a fantastic opportunity to join our diploma courses in makeup, personal makeup, and various fashion and interior designing streams.

Here are the most popular and well-loved makeup trends and techniques for the latest season in 2021.

Skin

  1. Minimalist and nude shade- One same-tone, nude shade makeup to keep the look natural and fresh. Minimalism is the new trend in many fields of art, interior designing, and fashion, so it’s no wonder it is also a favorite style in makeup. It has gained mass popularity and attention due to its simple, natural, elegant look reflecting the person’s natural beauty. The neutral color makeup matches the original and natural skin tone and conceals any blemishes and spots quickly and effectively without giving the impression that makeup is worn.
  2. Dewy skin and glossy vibes- The matte look is undeniably timeless, but the new glossy trend has our attention. The new favorite is the shimmery glow, lush, healthy, glowy, and dewy skin, and plush shiny lips. The sun-kissed vibe in makeup has gained a massive fanbase, and to be honest, it is a breathtaking beauty trend that is superior to the old-fashioned pale-toned and fair makeup trend. Sun-kissed doesn’t mean the tanned look that was once quite popular back in the 2000s. Instead, it means quite the opposite of the matte shade of makeup. Glassy natural skin, the soft shimmery healthy glow on the face, shiny, soft lips, and metallic colors on the eye are the basics of this fantastic makeup trend.
  3. Bold is beautiful- 2021 is all about bold or minimalism. There is no in-between. Bold eye makeup with dramatic eyeliners, bold lipstick trends, and big eyelashes have taken today’s makeup world by storm. This year people don’t have to be scared of going a little over the top when it comes to makeup, like the dramatic shades of multiple colors, funky eyeliners, two shades of lipstick, etc. Instead, it has well deserved love. After all, bold is beautiful.
  4. Rosiness has made a comeback- Blushing on the cheeks has been a staple of makeup for decades. But the entire makeup, consisting of rosy cheeks, pink shimmery lips, pink tint blush on eyelids, and nose, creates a radiant and highly gorgeous appearance. This rosy makeup trend uses shades of just pink and peach, without any contours or dark shades to complete the look of a radiant, flustered and gorgeous beauty.
  5. Softness over harsh contouring- Soft makeup looks creating a gorgeous youthful appearance using neutral and warm tones of makeup, bright rosy shades of blushes, soft colored lip tints, and most importantly, without any harsh contrast of colors on eyes, sharp contours, dark edges or sharp lines on nose bridge and jaw. The soft and cute makeup trend is one of the most loved and favorite makeup trends for everyone.

Eyes

  1. Nude tones and earthly-warm tones of eyeshadows- Eye shadows in a deeper shade of the natural skin tone go on the upper eyelids and creases, and a softer tint is applied in the middle and then are blended smoothly where the two shades meet. Alongside this essential step, you can use a highlight, white tint in the corners of the eyes, and rosy shades for more definition to give you a fantastic look of a neutral-toned natural nude eye makeup.
  2. The attention-stealing metallics, neon and glitter eyeshadows- Bold makeup style most popularly use these eye shadows. The stunning metallics, neon, and shimmery colors on the eyelids created a dramatic and elegant look with an artistic and creative take on makeup. Make-up often defines a person, and gorgeous bold beauty makeup choices also can be a window to a glimpse of their personality.
  3. Floating funky eyeliners or graphic eyeliners- Graphic eyeliners, slit winged eyeliners, and more of such dramatic eyeliners have become a new trend in eye makeup.
  4. Colorful eyeliners- Black eyeliners are undoubtedly the most popular ones, but colored eyeliners have also attracted much attention this year.
  5. Feathered winged eyeliners and feathered eyebrows- Feathered, winged eyeliners closely resemble slit winged eyeliners. Feathered eyebrows have also gained admiration from a lot of celebrities this year.
  6. The full and bold wispy eyelashes- The wispy eyelash extensions with some volume have become trendy this season.
  7. Fake bottom lashes are in the trend- Eyelash extensions have been traditionally only used on the upper eyelids. Still, now the thick fluttering bottom lashes have everyone hooked to this new trend.
  8. Thick eyebrows- Gone are the days of non-existent and super thin eyebrows. Instead, the full slick, and well-defined eyebrows are now a new favorite.

Lips

  1. Glossy and luscious lips- Glossy lip trends have now taken over matte. Instead, full and shiny lips are the new favorite.
  2. Nude and dusky colors- The warm and natural tones of dusky pink and shades of nudes have taken the lead for 2021’s lipstick trend.
  3. Bold and beautiful colors- Two lipstick shades on upper and lower lips, contrasting dark to light lip tints, Neon and metallic lipsticks, etc., are another addition to this year’s dramatic and bold makeup trend.

Science of Interior Designing

Saturday, September 18th, 2021

Interior designing is an exciting field of art and a career path for artistic and creative minds. So what relation does it have with science, or more specifically, with psychology? JD Institute of Fashion and Technology brings you an advanced and highly beneficial online course for all talented aspirants in interior design. We provide comprehensive and insightful knowledge, nourish their skills, quench their curiosity and encourage enthusiasm.

Although the psychology of the mind is mysterious, some research indicates how deeply connected we are to our environments and how they influence the way we live. Psychologists, most notably environmentalist psychologists, point out that our mind responds to the colors and overall the surroundings of the place we spend most of our time. It then stimulates our behavioral patterns and mental health as well. So, the colors, shapes, and prints on furniture, carpets, and curtains that are visible can drastically alter our moods. Specific interior designs also help with cognitive behavioral therapy and even affect our mental health in several ways.

Here is a simple explanatory example of this- Often, it may come to notice how the office of a therapist looks homely and bends towards an aesthetically pleasing pattern of colors and decorations, making it a safe healing place for you mentally and emotionally. Experts carefully design such sites’ interiors to instill and maintain calmness and tranquility in patients’ minds.

Colors:

Many pieces of research show that colors have a lot of psychological significance in interior designs that affect us mentally, alerting our senses, acting our emotions either consciously or unconsciously.

For example, certain shades of blue have a calming effect on the mind of an anxious person; green has healing properties that resemble the healing factor of nature, harmonious colors like particular shades of pink or grey bring tranquility and a sense of peace in the mind of the residents. Over the years of psychology and behavioral development studies, researchers have concluded that colors elicit various emotions and affect the residents’ mental stability and behaviors.

Space:

Whenever this psychological dimension of interior decoration is overlooked before the room is set up, you will feel a sense of connectedness. The spatial perceptivity and dimensional range of the room is another unique study in interior design. To maintain the sense of freedom, space, and comfort of a room without compromising the need for furniture and home decor calls for the expertise of an interior designer. Space can drastically change our moods and emotions; higher ceilings and more room give us a calming effect and an intensity of freedom.

Home decors- Indoor Plants:

Nature has its way of inducing healing properties and spiritual wellness in our mind that keeps us mentally healthy and freshens our mood. So undoubtedly, indoor plants have excellent favorable properties. Besides reducing the level of carbon dioxide in a room, controlling the humidity level, and purifying the air, it also uplifts the mood, evokes positive feelings, and is truly beautiful and serene. These things help with stress and anxiety naturally.

Revaluate the layout properly:

Reorganization of the room can make things fresh again, which helps you get rid of unnecessary stuff and clutter. Reorganizing saves money and gives you a fresh and new perspective on the room. It helps you find serenity and beauty in the same old room and eases out anxiety, panic, and helplessness when you have the entire room systematically organized and well kept. You can reduce stress, depression, and negative emotions by cleaning up clutter from each room and adding cheerful artwork to create an appealing look on the walls, making it appear more significant, more organized, and less cluttered. It will help you live a happier and healthier life.

Others on the list would include-

Indulge in favorite art pieces that make you happy and bring forth positive emotions. Always find excellent and uplifting artworks that instill calmness and add beauty to the walls and room’s style and layout.

Vastu represents the theory of how conscious minds function in the presence of their reassuring beliefs.

The position of windows that would maximize the rays of sunlight in the room, keeping it gloom-free and adds a tinge of warmth and liveliness to the space and more.

Why do we wear Jewellery?

Thursday, September 16th, 2021

Jewellery is a fine piece of accessories that matches the outfit and complements the style and look. The most charming point of Jewellery is that it isn’t assigned to one particular gender or lies beyond the bars of societal expectations. Jewellery designing and the beauty of fashion are versatile and a favorite amongst people of all genders. People love to adorn themselves with Jewellery as a way to express themselves through their fashion, showcase their unique style, and bring out their inner radiant beauty. Jewellery has always been an essential addition to outfits, whether traditional to the region or more casual. Still, the addition of Jewellery is the final and most crucial part of the outfit ensemble that seals the deal. Jewellery designing courses and jewelry making are among the most beautiful, creative, and immensely artistic career paths in the vast prolific field of fashion and arts. JD Institute of Fashion and Technology, India’s leading fashion institute, invites these brilliant, artistic, and creative young minds to our diploma programs. We offer them opportunities to broaden their horizons, expand their perspectives and fulfill their dreams in this career.

Jewellery and its elegant appeal

Jewellery has a certain charm in them that no other accessory or layered outfit can compete with. The presence of a piece of Jewellery makes the outfit even more special and elegant. Even if the Jewellery is a small dainty necklace or as simple as a stone earring, it still gives the person a remarkable radiance of beauty and fashion. Jewellery doesn’t always have to be loud and make its presence known through voluptuous appearances to make a statement. And even in some cases, improper jewellery alignment with the wrong outfit can even kill the look you might be trying to achieve. Jewellery completes a look, brings out the beauty in you, and enhances the outfit. The appeal of Jewellery is undeniably irresistible to everyone. The art of jewellery making is one of the most lovely and suitable career paths for the most creative and artistic minds.

Why is Jewellery so important?

Jewellery holds a lot of value in them. The reason behind a simple treasured ring even goes beyond just its looks. The significance of a chain can prove to be invaluable to someone, and a treasured earring or a dangly bracelet can even bring back memories and nostalgia. Here are some reasons why Jewellery is of such high importance to people:

The elegant appearance that brings out the beauty in a person- Let’s begin with the most straightforward reason behind the popularity of Jewellery- the beauty of it. The elegance of jewelry is undeniable with the sparkle of a stone-studded earring or the elegant gold that complements your classy dress. The Jewellery can be as small and straightforward as a dangle chain earring or maybe a bold necklace, but every single piece of Jewellery brings out the best in your looks and outfit. Moreover, many people wear Jewellery to boost confidence as the jewellery pieces fill in gaps and make the whole look complete and furnished.

Spiritual and sentimental significance- Jewellery holds a lot of importance alongside its value and beauty. The spiritual, religion, the regional and universal meaning behind stones, birthstones, certain metals, and ornamentation products have taken a spot in the world of fashion and Jewellery. The presence of a reassuring birthstone on a child, the lovely addition of someone’s lucky stone in their rings or chains can help them be more confident and feel encouraged. The widespread popularity behind this spiritual sentiment in jewellery pieces comes from the spiritual bond that people seek through crystals and stones to find inner peace, heal, and be one with their personal religious beliefs.

The sentimental pieces of Jewellery have followed generations or bear the essence, memories, or initials of a loved one, engraved to the metal base of the Jewellery. Wedding bands, treasured family heirlooms, Jewellery that serves as a reminder of a loved one, etc., are all examples of how emotionally attached we can be with ornaments.

Ancient historical and cultural importance- Researchers and archeologists have concluded that Jewellery is. Wherever 100,000 or 135,000 years old, one of the ancient remains of the past ancient civilizations in the world, there is proof that Jewellery existed in prehistoric times. In India, jewelry traces emerged in the Indus valley civilization, where beadwork, stone necklaces, and amulets were among the first trinkets with which people enjoyed adorning themselves. Later in the times of royalty, Jewellery was the symbol of power and represented wealth. However, the elegance of Jewellery is not just in its looks, but the value of this age-old product also lies in its cultural, societal, and religious importance.

During my undergrad, I started Modeling for brands and also became the president of a fashion society for two consecutive years. Till date, it was the best time of my life. I explored my love for designing garments and this eventually pushed me to pursue a career in fashion. My family saw how much I am passionate about designing and fashion, supporting me throughout my journey like a rock.

I still remember registering thrice for counseling, as a result, my counselor asked me “Why did you register so many times?” I expressed how much I was interested in getting an admission, so I didn’t want to lose any chance.

My admission was my first step towards my dream. JD Institute is like a family to me, their contribution in shaping my talent was priceless, it made me into what I am today. This journey has been a roller coaster ride and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it, eventually, because of my family and my college, I opened my own label Frillies Enterprises (@frillies_official). I got a chance to showcase my first collection under House of Jediiians. My vision for Frillies Enterprises is to develop an aesthetic that focuses on contemporary and futuristic concepts of design. Apart from my label, I want to pursue celebrity styling because I feel the walk of life is no less than a ramp walk and every individual must own it.

Interior designing as a career option: scope of interior designing, qualifications, and payscale

Monday, September 13th, 2021

As urbanization and industrialization progress, living spaces are becoming increasingly scarce. Real estate, as it is, is already a great asset for people because of its high value, and this increased value is resulting from reduced resources like land. You know that most people living in cities live in apartment buildings rather than build a new house. It is thus necessary for people to understand how to utilize limited space in the best way possible that would suit their daily needs. It is for this reason why the demand for interior designers is at an all-time high. We at JD Institute understand this, and we believe that the scope of interior designing will keep increasing as days pass due to decreasing land resources. We have thus taken it upon ourselves to nurture and mold the future generation of interior designers in a way that will suit the world’s needs.

What is interior design?

An interior designer works on living or professional spaces to make them more valuable and suitable for the needs of their residents. It is about the experience that people can get indoors with the right aesthetics. If one could define it properly, “Interior designing is the science and art of enhancing the interiors of spaces to achieve a healthier and aesthetically pleasing environment.” As part of architecture, interior designing is the art of making places comfortable and appealing.

What does an Interior designer do?

If you have been dreaming for a long time about a house that feels like home, pleasing, comfortable, and is suitable for your daily needs, you only have to get your own apartment and hire an interior designer. Interior designers research the spaces assigned to them profoundly and conceptually develop them with efficient planning to create a comfortable environment suited to their client’s needs. A professional interior designer always possesses practical knowledge of textiles, colors, fabrics, furniture, and space planning. They work alongside builders, architects, and engineers to plan the look, feel, and function of the places they are designing.

It is common to see people getting confused between “interior designer” and “interior decorator.” Some people might think the terms are interchangeable. However, there is a slight difference between the two. An interior decorator might have practical interior design knowledge but does not specialize in this field. At the same time, an interior designer has practical knowledge of this field and has specialized in it.

Scope of interior designing

As mentioned before, the world is undergoing urbanization at a rapid scale, and so is India. In this situation, it is natural that there is a rise in the demand for interior designers as they maximize the utility of living spaces, especially in apartment buildings. Indeed, interior designing is now one of the most sought-after professions today in India. It can be deemed as one of the best career options of 2021 as well. Statistics of market growth also verifies the increasing demand for interior designers. Since the market prices for real estate and properties are at an all-time high, people seek smaller homes, that is, apartments, and rely exceedingly on interior designers to make their living spaces functional and aesthetically pleasing. The consensus on what people like are theme-based interiors and styles that make their homes unique. Hence, interior designing jobs are here to stay for quite a while, and the interior designing industry will see exponential growth globally by the year 2025.

Qualifications and skills required to be an interior designer

Suppose you are a creative person with basic knowledge about fabrics, color schemes, furniture, textiles, and other interior designing properties. In that case, you can use your passion for the subject to become an interior decorator. However, an interior design career is difficult to build, but only if you follow our guidelines.                  OR

  • Do a Master’s or an MBA in Interior Design: If you have completed your graduation course in interior design, you could opt for a Master’s (M.Sc) degree in Interior design or do an MBA, which is a 2-year course in this field. However, you will be required to complete your B.Sc with at least 45% marks.

Besides the above qualifications, here are the core skills that an interior designer must have-

  1. Spatial awareness: Understanding and proper planning to utilize spaces to their full potential to make them functional and pleasant.
  2. Technical knowledge: Well-versed in software like Autodesk Revit, 3D Max, Sketch-Up, 3D Homeplanner, etc.
  3. Budgeting: Ability to forecast expenditure and make budgets accordingly, identify hidden costs and be good at bookkeeping
  4. Dynamic creativity: Must have a thorough knowledge of color schemes, fabrics, upcoming trends, etc.

Payscale of interior designers

Conclusion

At JD Institute of Fashion and Technology, we know an increasing demand for interior designers and understand the importance of nurturing good interior designers to make our living spaces ever more comfortable and functional. In this institute, we don’t believe in the “One size fits all” approach and instead mold our students in a way that fits well with their unique skill set. This approach has opened up newer opportunities for every student graduating from this institute and made up one of the pioneer institutes in India for interior design.

Jewelry history and evolution through time

Saturday, September 11th, 2021

Jewelry is among the oldest decorative arts. It highlights how there is a sense of beauty in the world that drives all humans to gravitate to tangible objects that are beautiful and make them desire to look better. Early societies wore jewelry as amulets against ill fortune and bad health. There is a strong link between gemstones and luck. We hear stories of people long ago who somehow managed to find it through gems and jewelry. The myths gave birth to jewelry fashioned into symbols believed to bestow fertility, wealth, and love. Jewelry had magical properties, according to the ancients.

Later, jewelry came to symbolize human relationships and commitment. Slaves wore bracelets to identify themselves. A wedding ring represents two people’s commitment to each other. At that time, jewelry was symbolic of wealth, status, and membership. The jewelry of that era signified wealth, quality, and membership. As per what it means, the materials used to make pieces of jewelry kept evolving.

Hunters, hunters, and tribal communities made jewelry first using various materials they could find at their disposal – stones, skins, feathers, plants, bones, shells, wood, and naturally made semi-precious materials such as obsidian. Then, through the advancement of technology, artisans started to tame metals and precious gems and transform them into objects of art that have influenced entire cultures and many types of jewelry styles today.

Nevertheless, even today, jewelry is worn to meet the same purpose–expressing oneself non-verbally, showing wealth, rank, political and religious affiliations, or affection toward another. Due to its timelessness, jewelry has become a target for continuous improvement.

The history of jewelry in India

India has been the world’s sole supplier of gemstones for over 2,000 years. The coveted diamonds of Golconda, sapphires of Kashmir, and pearls of the Gulf of Mannar in India attracted traders from land and sea alike. Power, prosperity, and prestige were attributes associated with jewels for rulers. It is almost always true that jewelry’s value increases in India and does not decrease.

The Indus Valley is the origin of India’s fascination with jewelry around 5,000 years ago.

Indian beads were manufactured in giant factories and exported to every country in the world. Indians also used diamond drills, which the Romans enjoyed. The merchants of the Indus Valley Civilisation fashioned semi-precious materials into tubular or barrel shapes, decorated them with carvings, bands, dots, and patterns, or set them minutely with gold. Indus Valley Civilisation people were highly sophisticated based on the jewelry they wore and what they made. They had an exquisite aesthetic sense backed by superb engineering skills. A necklace unearthed from Mohenjodaro currently resides in the jewelry gallery of the Indian National Museum in Delhi.

Following Mohenjodaro’s decline, Indian artisans had greatly honed their skills. In the pendants of large earrings from this period, there is intricate filigree work, embossing, and micro-granulations. Bharhut, Sanchi, and Amaravati sculptures and paintings feature various kinds of jewelry. According to the chronicles of Paes, a Portuguese traveler who visited the Vijayanagar empire in the 16th century, the Vijayanagara civilization dealt in gold, pearls, and precious stones.

The Jadau technique is said to have originated in Mughal India, but artisans in Rajasthan and Gujarat could add their unique touch and make it their own. Jadau is made by heating gold until it is pliable. Afterward frames and designs are crafted, lac inserted into hollow structures and precious stones. In any case, after the stone has been professionally mounted, only gold melted with the help of an electric heater, and no adhesive is applied, the jeweler begins the meenakari work, patiently adding each color to the piece. The result of this lengthy process is a beautiful piece of jewelry that was fit for a king and still is today. Mir Osman Ali Khan, once known as the richest man globally, had an incredible collection of jewels as the last Nizam. In 1947, when Queen Elizabeth II married Prince Philip, he presented her with a stunning diamond necklace from the Nizam of Hyderabad.

Among the Nizams’ collection are several remarkable pieces, including a satlada, a seven-strand pearl necklace containing approximately 465 Basra pearls. The pearls come from the modern-day Iraqi city of Basra. These pearls have earned a place in history for their perfectly round shape, silver-white color, and beautiful luminosity. Among the jewelry worn by the women of the Nizam court were paizeb anklets. These anklets were hinged gold panels studded with gemstones. India’s jewelry design began to absorb influences from its colonial rulers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Cartier, a renowned European jeweler, started to create pieces for the maharajahs using Indian stones inspired by works made in Paris as the design evolved and the cultural narrative became more complex.

Indian jewelry is incomplete without mentioning two of the world’s most famous jewels – the Kohinoor diamond and the Hope diamond. Entrenched in history, having been passed down by some of the greatest rulers of massive empires in the Indian subcontinent, the Kohinoor is a priceless diamond the size of a ping pong ball. Legend has it that the diamond was discovered in Guntur, in Andhra Pradesh, in the 13th century. However, there has been a dispute over the diamond’s ownership by four countries – India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Britain – since its storage in the Tower of London in the United Kingdom.

The Hope Diamond weighs 45.52 carats and is one of the most spectacular gems in the world. However, the world’s largest blue diamond is a cursed gem that brings bad luck to those who own it. Initially discovered in India, the stone appears to have originated from the sculpted statue of a goddess. A French traveler purchased the emerald gem for 3,000 pounds by King Louis XIV of France in 1668. It boasts 16 pear-shaped and cushion-cut white diamonds.

There you go! A brief history of jewelry making in India through the prism of traditional Indian jewelry.

These components incorporate space, line, texture, pattern, forms, color, and light, and adjusting them is the way to make an aesthetic and satisfying interior.

Space

Space is a principal idea to comprehend, ensuring you can exploit what is accessible to you. The available ‘space’ generally cannot be changed easily, so you need to work with what you have within the actual limits of the room. There is this advantage of working with three-dimensional space (length, breadth, and height). The 3-D space accordingly can be filled or left vacant, depending upon what you and your client need to accomplish from an efficient and design point of view.

Space can be parted into two classifications: positive and negative space. Positive space contains some of the other objects, while negative space has some open areas/void. Finding equilibrium between the two lengths of a room is essential to abstain from congestion. Of course, the client’s necessities in the particular area or room and its necessary functionality will affect this positive and negative space balance. In any case, regardless of your plan, how you use and maintain the balance between the area accessible to you can be the game-changer in hitting the imprint with your design idea or missing out on your next bonus.

Line

There are three types of lines that help to shape a room and guide the eye:

· Horizontal line

· Vertical line

· Dynamic line

Horizontal lines, made by tables and different surfaces, give a feeling of strength and productivity. Therefore, interior designers usually highlight these lines to create a space that seems more extensive and more prolonged. In this way, they also attract the eye to the point of convergence. Yet, be cautious because overemphasis on flat lines can also cause the space to appear very dull.

Vertical lines come from components like doorways and windows, which summon sensations of opportunity and strength. On a practical level, highlighting vertical lines frequently illuminates the room and makes it look taller. Generally, fit to use in lounge areas, passages, and workplaces, vertical lines should be consolidated carefully, not leaving the occupants feeling uncomfortable.

Dynamic lines allude to askew, crisscross, or bent lines. Such sequences can be found in steps, for instance, which give energy to the eyes. Stimulating to the eye, dynamic lines catch our attention for longer. However, if lines are present in a large number in a single room, they can be diverting and can also overpower vertical or horizontal lines.

In a perfect world, the designers need to find balance with the consolidation of various lines. This is ordinarily done by choosing one prevailing feature line, per the customer’s ideas they wish to pass on in the space.

Texture

Texture alludes to the material surface of an item or finish. It’s a customarily disregarded component yet truly can add up a novel dimension to the room.

Texture comes in two types – visual texture and actual texture. The eye sees visual texture. Natural texture can be seen or felt and has 3D qualities. Generally, if something is missing in a room, a decent designer will recognize that and understand that it will be because of the absence of texture. Therefore, texture influences each item chosen for a room and plays a vital role in the room’s overall design.

Pattern

A pattern is made by utilizing a tedious plan and can be found in any wallpaper, delicate goods, carpets, and rugs. Combined with color, the pattern offers a comparable use to texture in that it can add appeal to a room. Patterns come in different sorts, like stripes, geometrical prints, pictorial, natural, theme, and animal prints. Concerning the style, it is essential to know what classification the pattern falls into to guarantee that the embodiment of the room is well maintained.

Forms

The form is the state of the room, just as any articles inside the room. It relates to all the three-dimensional objects present within the room. These forms can, as a rule, appear either natural or geometric. Geometrical alludes to hard lines and square edges, while natural identifies with more organic structures that appear to develop naturally.

Colour

Colour is a science ultimately all alone and is another critical component that interior designers. Consider first what the room is intended for and what activities will occur there when choosing the shade. Also, consider how both the regular and artificial lighting will color the area. At long last, think about the size of the room.

Light

Light is an essential aspect of any space. Without it, all of the other components would not be able to shine to the brightest. When considering interior lighting, it is essential to address the activities undertaken in the respective space. It is crucial to consider both the quality and quantity of the light here.
