But being an interior designer is not easy.

Some of the qualifications for becoming an interior designer include:

To enroll in an interior design degree program, students must have finished 10+2 in any field with a minimum of 50%.

Consider the AIEED (All India Entrance Examination for Design): some schools base admissions choices on AIEED scores. It’s for aspiring interior designers.

A B.Sc. in interior design from a reputed university is required.

Those who have passed their 10+2 or comparable exams with at least 50% can also pursue a Diploma in Interior Design.

A Master of Science (M.SC) in interior design is also possible. or

MBA in Interior Design: 2 years. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum GPA of 45 percent.

Core Skills:

  • Spatial Sensitisation: While planning interiors, atmosphere, and room function, it is critical to understand spaces and their usage.
  • Technical Expertise: Designers must be proficient with Autodesk Revit,  Vectorworks, 3D Max,  AutoCAD, Archicad, Sketch-Up, Chief Architect, and 3D Homeplanner to develop digital designs for customers.
  • Planning a budget: Designers are required to anticipate expenditure, create budgets, detect hidden expenses, negotiate, and be proficient in bookkeeping to make optimal use of money.
  • Management of Time: Designers must manage their schedules, assign, and manage their time well to complete projects on time.
  • Creativity that changes with the times: A successful interior designer must be imaginative and knowledgeable about artistic styles, colours, textiles, and current trends.

Soft Skills:

  • An interior designer’s communication skills must be excellent, as a large part of their profession is to explain ideas.
  • They should be adept in problem-solving to ensure efficient process management, task prioritizing, and troubleshooting.
  • Interior designers should be progressive and critical thinkers capable of resolving issues quickly.
