After battling a prolonged lockdown and series of online classes, the batch of 2021 finally reached the finale. On 4th December 2021, another batch of Jediiians went through their convocation ceremony at the India Islamic Culture Centre, New Delhi. The past year was not easy. We went through thick and thin together and faced one of the biggest humanitarian crises all while staying put in the creative industry. Our graduating batch faced it all. From offline to online, the students handled the transformation with absolute grace. After a tumultuous journey of almost 3 years, the time has come for us to bid adieu to another pool of creative minds.
Blessing the venue with their gracious presence were Ms. Pallavi Singh (Fashion Designer, ARCVSH), Dr. R. K. Bharti (Joint Director, MSME), and Mr. Neeraj Sharma (Assistant Director, MSME). Making the day even more memorable for the students, the graduation ceremony started with a message from our Director, Mrs. Rupal Dalal. This was followed by the distribution of the awards and certificates for the meritorious students where the guests were called upon the stage to present the certificates. Our guests were further acknowledged and felicitated by Ms. Rupal Dalal, with a trophy. They were then presented with gifts from our alumni, Ms. Mridula Sangal of the brand The Collar and Ms. Ishita Gupta of the brand Vaidaan. As the distribution of the certificates rolled out, the students were filled with the sorrow of this ending and the happiness of their upcoming journey. Towards the end of the ceremony, the students from the Fashion Styling department had planned a performance that was sure to get the graduation batch in the groove. The outstanding performance won hearts and students came together to shake a leg with the performers. This performance was succeeded with another one where a group of Jediiians struck the right chords with their synchronised vocals. The convocation 2021 which marked the ending of these students’ college life also marked the beginning of possibilities for their upcoming careers.
The venue was abuzz with students coming from all over the city for the final showdown. It’s needless to say, the convocation of 2021 was significant. Even more so because the Jediiians were back on the physical scape and they were meeting their illustrious professors face to face. The JD team has set up some activities to make the day even special for the graduating batch. Among the planned activities were a candy stand and a message wall. The said candy stand posed the question of “Jd Institute taught me to be” which was followed by five options (thoughtful, conscious designer, empathetic creator, efficient, and problem solver). The selection of the candies pointed out their answers. Stating the obvious, the standee became a favorite.
In another activity, the message wall was set up using almost 1k sticky notes which together formed the word “Me”. The students were asked to write their future aspirations, an unforgettable experience, or a goodbye message on the notes. From emotional messages to goodbye notes, the wall had it all. As JD souvenirs, the students were presented with postcards that showcased a small message to the students. The day witnessed a range of photographs, videos, dewy-eyed encounters and many more.
As the day and the graduation ceremony came to an end, the batch of 2021 parted with a promise to always keep in touch and to take their knowledge and experience towards the betterment of society. Being a vital part of the JD family, the passing group of students received a load of appreciation from the faculty members and the Directors. The event ended with a note of impending promises and tearful goodbyes.
