ORGANIC COTTON

As the name suggests, Organic cotton is type of cotton that is produced and certified as per the‘Organic agriculture standards’. Generally, it is cultivated on lands that have been treated and given sufficient time (Minimum three Years) for removal of all toxic residues of chemical fertilizers and pesticides from earlier applications. Its production sustains the health of soil, ecosystem and people by using natural processes rather than relying on artificial inputs. The production is supposed to promote and enhance biodiversity and biological cycles. This is grown in subtropical regions such as India, Turkey, China and parts of USA. A wide range of institutions and diverse campaigns are now educating the community about benefits of ‘Organic Cotton’ and supporting farmers for a feasible transition from traditional farming to organic farming.
