Best Things to learn from an Interior designing course

Monday, October 4th, 2021

From shading plans to region carpets, the universe of Interior plans can begin to feel overpowering if you attempt to make a plunge simultaneously. Fortunately, there are a couple of standards of Interior plans that are a great spot to kick you off—regardless of whether you’re working with a customer’s home plan or need to give your own home a makeover.

What Is Interior Design?

Interior plan is a calling that spotlights engineering and space arranging, making firm and stylishly satisfying plans for home interiors and organisations. Proficient Interior Designers require centred tutoring and formal preparation.

The 3 Design Principles of Interior Design

When beginning with your plans, there are a couple of Interior plan essentials to remember:

  • Style: Choosing an Interior plan style at the outset will assist you with keeping your space strong and centred. As far as improving techniques go, there are pitiful chic, Tuscan, mid-century contemporary, modern, Scandinavian, or farmhouse – and most of these offer their distinctive plan components, shades, window treatments, floor plans, and even styles of divider adornment. Familiarise yourself with a few unique styles, including what configuration patterns are well known at present, to get a preference for what styles and adorning thoughts you like.
  • Point of convergence: Each room contains an enthralling or unique piece—like a chimney or a decent lounge chair—that draws the focus and consideration of the watcher. Take care not to get carried away here: if you have such a large number of central focuses in a living space, it will begin to feel overwhelming and unfocused.
  • Equilibrium: To accomplish balance in each room, you’ll need to convey the visual load of your furnishings and accents. Think about scale (enormous and little things), surface (hard and delicate things), and position (high, eye-level, and low situation, and left and ideal arrangement). If you focus on unpretentious differentiations in a solitary space, you’ll have the option to make rooms that vibe complete and adjusted.

So, what are the best things that you can learn from an interior designing course?

We have listed down for you many reasons why you should invest in an interior designing course and what you can learn from it:

Shading Schemes

Your Interior planning course will show you many things about shadings and how to utilise them for various purposes. You should know that a few tones are alleviating, charming, quieting, and exquisite, while others might be refreshing and loud to your faculties. In any case, for various spaces, you might require both. Along these lines, you need to realise how tone can be applied to get a particular sort of impact. There is brain research about tones, and you should know about that and use it to accomplish wanted purposes in your Interior planning projects.

Information on the Fabric

As an Interior fashioner, you will utilise various types of textures, so you should think smart about them. As you study or practice style planning, you become more acquainted with the textures used for various purposes – draperies, upholstery, table garments, bed sheets, cushion covers, towels, etc. Your comprehension of the textures will assist you with picking the best material for a particular reason. For example, at times, you may need to utilise brilliant shading in upholstery to balance the boring-looking dividers. Along these lines, the key isn’t just knowing the textures but also how to utilise them to accomplish a specific outcome.

Space Management

This is something that tests the strength of an Interior creator. Spaces aren’t equivalent, and consistency is not the standard. As an interior architect, you might have excessively little or excessively huge and anything in the middle regarding spaces. Presently, how you utilise the space says a lot about your abilities and experience as an Interior designer. There are strategies, items, and tones that make a little space look enormous and fair. Essentially, huge spaces can be built so that they look comfortable, agreeable, and exquisite.

Virtual Designing

Virtual planning helps to get a thought on how certain provisions will glance in the completed item. It involves mixing various media items like pictures, recordings, and movement via illustrations, planning, activity, and enhanced visualisations. Here, you get a thought about how your space will care for various components and shadings. This is a significant device for all Interior originators since it saves you the issue of experimentation. To have the option to make a virtual plan, you ought to be capable of PC tasks and applicable planning programming.

Monitoring Design Trends

Interior planning is a captivating vocation, and you thrive on finding out about recent fads and testing them in your activities. Over the long run, you practically become a gigantic store of plans and plan arrangements. For each plan issue, you have numerous arrangements. Watching out for new plan drifts and ad-libbing them for your motivation become normal for you. When you discover creative arrangements and apply them to your ventures, they are for everybody’s viewing pleasure. Thus, your standing develops among the local area of individual creators and your clients.

Portfolio

A very much planned portfolio is an impression of an understudies’ work. Subsequently, towards finishing an Interior plan course, every understudy is relied upon to give exceptional consideration to the portfolio. The portfolio is the work every semester that looks good and pleasing in a portfolio. Ensure your portfolio features your solid hang-on Interior plan essential information.

It is solely after the culmination of the course that understudies, with the assistance of their staff, can make a decent portfolio. Start with an Interior plan essential information and go on to turning into an expert Interior fashioner.

Henceforth, training in the Interior plan can land you splendid position openings and assist you with turning into an influential architect. As an Interior plan, you configure homes as well as your configuration dreams!

How can modern home interior design transform your space?

Sunday, October 3rd, 2021

In the 21st century society that we live in, there is a rapid increase in the use of modern home interior design styles. Thus, modern home interior designs are also emerging as the most popular forms of home design styles leaving behind the traditional home design styles. Though both of these home design styles are unique in their own way and every person’s opinion will differ on this subject, the modern home interior designs have many benefits. It won’t be wrong to say that such home designs can totally transform the space you live in. In this article, we will explore both the features of both the traditional and modern home interior design styles and further also give you an insight on how to employ modern home interior design techniques to enhance the look and utility of your home.

Traditional Homes

The traditional home design has been quite popular for a long time and people generally take to this style due to the eternal timeless value of these styles. This style emerged in the 18th and 19th century in Europe. The traditional home designs typically focus on dark, rich colours unlike modern designs which focus on muted or neutral colours and open spaces. The traditional home interior design can also be characterized by classical art pieces, antiques and symmetry. Traditional home interior design doesn’t speak of any particular era or period but is based on the word “tradition”, that is, inspired from the decor of the 18th and 19th centuries. If you want your home to be designed in a traditional style, you would have to focus your attention on using dark woods alongside richer tones. Traditional home designs differ vastly from contemporary or modern home interior designs on yet another aspect, which is, patterns. The patterns that are widely used in traditional homes include paisleys, florals, plaids and stripes. SUch patterns are the highlights of a traditional home interior design style. Traditional home interior design is all about those details and such homes consist of very intricate detailing.

Notable features of the traditional home interior design styles

To summarise traditional home interior designs, here are the notable features of this style.

  1. The core themes of traditional home interior designs revolve around richer, vibrant tones and symmetry.
  2. The undertone of this style is the familiarity of the design and hence, the traditional home interior design is appealing to people of all ages.
  3. Though the common belief says traditional homes are boring, they contain extraordinary art pieces which have exceptionally adventurous tales behind them.
  4. Rich textiles define traditional home interior designs. Thus, an interior designer uses them to add classic patterns and colours to the house.
  5. Fabrics for traditional homes have to be chosen carefully and generally include those fabrics that have plain colours, have geometrics and florals and are mildly stripped.

Modern Homes

The modern home interior design is best suited for the present society in many ways. Though the modern home interior design is not synonymous to the contemporary home design which is about the “here and now”, the modern home interior design adds an unique look and feel to your home. The “modern home design” refers to the characteristic architectural style of the home built around the 1950s. SInce, the modern design evolved at the turn of the twentieth century people tend to get confused between modern and contemporary home designs. The modern home interior design can be distinguished by the use of earthly or neutral colours, natural materials and there are no unnecessary detailing whatsoever. The roots of this style lie in Scandinavian and German design and architecture. The modern home design gained popularity throughout the world in the entire 20th century such that it was decided into styles- the “mid-century” modern home design and the “post-modern” home design style. Where traditional homes were noteworthy for the intricate detailing, modern home interior designs let the basic structure of the home speak for itself without the aid of unnecessary details. There are several more aspects that characterize and define the modern home interior design.

Notable features of the modern home interior designs

  1. You could easily identify a modern home interior design style by observing the well-defined lines, the simplistic decor and natural colour palette of the house.
  2. The modern home interior design also contains many abstract forms as these homes focus more on the functionality , that is, practicality and logic ,than on the form. The designer also uses well-defined horizontal and vertical lines of steps, furniture and columns.
  3. Interior designers adopt minimalism while designing modern homes, to balance empty and occupied spaces. The philosophy generally followed is “less is more”.
  4. The modern home interior design also is distinctive in the use of natural materials like natural fibers, unpainted wood, metals and leather with a neutral or natural colour palette.
  5. To outline a modern home interior design, it is all about being simple yet elegant without any flashy colour tones and using natural colours and materials.

Modern home interior designs tips and techniques that can transform your space

The modern home interior design focuses more on the functionality of a house but also adds aesthetic value with the muted colour tones alongside distinctive patterns. Here are some tips of modern home interior designing that you can employ to transform your space.

  1. Functional and open spaces: Modern home interior designs call for spacious rooms that are functional and efficient. To transform your living space, a thorough knowledge about fixed and loose furniture and proper placement of those is important, to create the desired space. Besides that, use of different flooring for open-plan homes, say wooden flooring for the living area and vitrified flooring for kitchen and dining area also helps in easy cleaning. A gorgeous rug will help tie all of the elements together and create a beautiful look
  2. Ample lighting:Modern home interiors focus on ample lighting and air in each room and thus employ tall windows which facilitate both air and light into the rooms. You could also use spotlights or focused downlights and accent lights for your reading area or workshop and to create drama and mood respectively.
  3. Exceptionally designed kitchens: Modern home interior designs use the design concept called the “work triangle” to make a kitchen more ergonomic and efficient. In simple terms, you could consider your stove, fridge and sink as three corners of a triangle.
  4. Design themes and colour palettes: Modern homes are all about that de-cluttered look. Hence, it is important to know that light colours open up spaces while a dark colour palette makes a space look smaller than it is. You must read all the rooms connected by a single thread, that is,colour scheme and design themes.

Conclusion

A modern home interior design can thus provide you good functionality alongside an aesthetic value. But you must remember to employ an interior designer who has a thorough knowledge of fabrics, textiles, colour schemes and designs. At JD Institute, we mold interior designers from scratch and ensure all students have a thorough understanding of the subject matter. We also believe in giving special attention to every student and guide them according to their skill set so that they become exceptionally successful in their field.

Here are the reasons why you should hire an interior designer for your home:

Interior designers have a high demand in today’s domestic, entertainment and commercial market and economy. Let’s learn why interior designers need domestic scenarios and, therefore, a must while styling or renovating rooms. Here are why you should always hire interior designers for your home-

  1. Expert advice and their knowledge: Interior designers have immense knowledge of the most popular and relevant information in India’s fashion and interior designing industry worldwide. They are the best and most reliable sources of all information and knowledge regarding your choices on furnishing, colours, lighting, themes, textures, artworks, decors and others.
  2. They are experts in their fields: Interior designers know what they are doing and what suits everything as a whole. So they make the best use of space and items in the room, creating more space and utilising every inch of the place to create a better and more comfortable environment for you.
  3. They help take responsibility and stress off your shoulders: Hiring an interior designer is highly time-saving as you can focus on other things at work and your social and domestic life without worrying about the renovation or redecoration of your rooms or furniture. Interior designers are the best at what they do and pay attention to every minute detail and desire of yours, and create an environment that suits your style perfectly.
  4. Interior designing is a lot more than what you think: The idea of renovating or decorating a room might seem easy or like an aesthetic recreation for those interested in art and style. But in reality, the entire process of understanding the concepts, themes, home interior design ideas, decision making, getting the best deals and utilising the room to its maximum level is highly stressful. Moreover, it requires expert advice and skills that only a trained interior designer can provide.
  5. Psychological developments and environment: It is a proven experiment. The science behind mind and ideologies explains that a person’s feelings, emotions, mental health and behavioural aspects are highly affected and influenced by the room or environment they spend their most vulnerable and maximum time. The colours, the artworks, the spatial dimensions, the position of furniture(especially the bed), too many decors, wrong decors, or the lack of sets can immensely affect the resident’s mental state. Therefore, interior design is not just about the aesthetics or visual pleasure of a room. Still, it is also about selecting relaxing and calming colours, appropriate furnishings and decors, good lighting fixtures, artworks in the room, textures of curtains and patterns, and more.

Important tips to know before pursuing a career in Interior Design

Thinking about a career in Interior Design? Here’s what you need to know

At present, Interior designing is becoming one of the most sought-after professions, not only in India but all over the world. The primary reason the interior design industry is growing fast is the rapid urbanisation taking place in the world. You will notice tall buildings and apartments cropping up everywhere, and thus, available spaces are shrinking as well. Interior designers demand everywhere to make the most out of the available spaces and make these areas comfortable and inhabitable. The primary task of an interior designer is to understand the space available and make the best of it. It is also their job to incorporate nice and unique designs to the spaces they are designing, such as they achieve 100% client satisfaction. The interior designer job is quite a big one, and you will have to take on much responsibility.

If you are aspiring to be an interior designer, you must first think about your educational qualifications. Getting a Bachelor’s degree from a reputed institute such as the JD Institute of Fashion Technology will help you in your career. We mould students in such a way that they can have successful careers in the future. Besides your education qualification, you should know a few important things before pursuing a career in Interior Design.

Important tips to know before pursuing a career in Interior Design

  1. Interior decorating is not synonymous with Interior Designing: People often get confused between interior decorating and interior designing and use the terms interrelated. Interior designing is a more specialised field than interior decorating. Interior decorating requires one to be familiar with colours, textures and thinking of ways to adorn a house with home decor items. You need a more significant skill set than that to become a professional interior designer in interior design.
  2. You must have a knack for designing: The first step in any career is a passion for it. In interior designing, you will also need to have a knack for designing to layout more elaborately. In addition, you must have a talent for architecture, textures, colours, spatial arrangement skills and textiles. In a career like Interior Design, you will have to design all kinds of spaces, and thus, you must understand all spaces well.
  3. Interior designing is work and not just fun with fabrics and colours: Most people think a career in interior design is quite easy. However, they are quite mistaken. Interior designing is not about guessing which decor would look better in the spaces. It is about understanding colours, fabrics, textures and furniture along with many other tasks. Once you start working as a professional interior designer, you will comprehend how demanding the work is.
  4. You must have a portfolio: The popular proverb- “actions speak louder than words” applies in the same way to a career in interior designing as in any other field. In the case of an interior designer, the proverb “a picture speaks a thousand words” is also applicable. What we mean is, to be a professional in the interior designing industry, you must have a portfolio, an outstanding one, of course, that portrays all the work you have done and the projects you have undertaken.
  5. Competition is an inevitable part of the job: Competition is a part of any job in the world and even more if you want to reach the zen of success in your job. Interior designing is quite a competitive industry, and if you’re going to be successful, you have to get noticed. Firstly, to reiterate the above point, you must have a fantastic portfolio, and it will speak quite a lot for you. It would be best to keep yourself updated with the newest trends, modern architecture and designs etc.
  6. Interior Designing does not only relate to designing residential spaces: With the rapidly increasing popularity of interior designing, you must understand that interior designing is not restricted to residential spaces only, nor is it always about home renovation. Therefore, while pursuing a career in interior designing, you must understand all the facets of the field. That is, interior designing ranges from designing homes to healthcare facilities and even homes for the elderly.
  7. Professional requirements of the job vary by country and region: One of the essential aspects to know about the interior designing industry is that the requirements of an interior designer vary with every region and country. For example, you might need a license to work in one place, and you might need some extra education qualifications to work in another. Hence, you must decide in advance where you want to work and start fulfilling the requirements to achieve your goals. However, a bachelor’s degree is the minimum educational qualification you will need to pursue a career in Interior design.
  8. You need a specific skill set: Being good at drawing is not enough to be a successful interior designer. Being good at drawing would help you in your job, but you will need more to be truly successful. Firstly, you will need strong spatial thinking skills besides a thorough understanding of the spaces you will be designing, colours, textures, wallpapers, furniture and more. You should also be adept at using 3D Designing software.
  9. It may not be a high-paying job, but it is rewarding, all the same: Reality shows that depict interior designers live luxurious lives with highly paid jobs portray an inaccurate image of what it is like to be an interior designer. Though the pay scale of interior designers lies in the above-average space in the meter of different professions, the pay is pretty average. However, if interior designing is your passion, you must pursue it by all means and become successful.

Conclusion

Now you know all that there is to know about pursuing a career in Interior design. Since educational qualifications play a significant role in building a successful interior designer, you should institute like the JD Institute of Fashion Technology, where we offer multiple courses on Interior design. Moreover, we pay attention to each student and hone their natural skill set and aptitude, making us one of the pioneer institutes for Fashion Technology and interior design with reputed alumni.

I had always been a confused child and just like every other high school graduate, choosing a career path was tough for me.

Coming from a commerce background, I had no plans to join a fashion institution but life plants you wherever you are meant to be. I was good at academics and my father wanted me to choose a safe career option and become a Chartered Accountant and just for his sake I gave it a shot but dropped the classes within a week, I knew it wasn’t my calling. By that time, I was still unsure about my career choices and roughly just sat and wrote down all the things I was good at, Law and Fashion became my top preferences and I started exploring Law and Fashion Institutes on the internet, that’s how I came to know of JD.

I came here for a counseling session and that was it, I’d never been so sure about anything else in my life but that was just the beginning of what will always remain the most amazing three years of my life.

At first, I couldn’t keep up with the workload, but eventually, I paced myself up and got hold of it, and having the best mentors and friends around me made it even easier for me to adapt to the JD life.

Honestly, three years flew by like three days but gave me a lifetime of memories and unforgettable experiences. I’ll always remember things I learned here, people I met here, places I’ve been to because of JD, and most importantly how JD shaped me into a confident and hardworking human which is now paving the way to my success. I’ve recently started a small venture @studio.neeka and it’s amazing to watch something I’ve initiated grow day by day.

What is the difference between Textile Designing and Fashion Designing?

Thursday, September 30th, 2021

What would you imagine as soon as you hear the word “fashion”. “Fashion” is a word that conjures up such images in the common person, as glamorous fashion shows and fantastic ramp walks and such clothes that blow one’s mind. Yet, most of us only see what is on display and not what goes on behind the scenes. It takes many people and countless hours to put together each fashion show with its glamorous ramp walks. Indeed, each costume requires intense training, and this is not very different from any other profession. If you are not very familiar with the fashion industry, it could seem that fashion is a single stream without any tributaries. However, the fashion industry has many specializations and offers a wide variety of careers to choose from. Of the many careers you could choose in this industry, fashion design and textile design are the most popular careers. A layperson may be confused between the two and may think that both are the same career. However, this is not true at all. Both textile design and fashion design careers have very different roles in the industry. Keep reading on to understand the difference between textile design and fashion design.

What is Fashion Designing?

Fashion designing is the field in the fashion industry that is most popular. Indeed, if you tell most people that you want to pursue a career in the fashion industry, they assume you want to be a fashion designer. This is because fashion designing deals with creating artistic and unique jewellery, garments, footwork and other accessories. The top institutes in India that provide many fashion courses are the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), JD Institute of Fashion Technology, and a few more.

Role of Fashion Designer

The primary task of a fashion designer is to create artistic designs and patterns for garments. As mentioned above, fashion designs also make footwear and other such accessories. Their methodology follows a particular order. They first think of a design for clothing and sketch it out on paper with their desired colours. Then they select fabrics that would be best for the development of the designs onto garments. Finally, they cut the fabric and sewed the garment. It is essential for fashion designers to have a thorough knowledge of the properties of different fabrics, pattern making on garments, garment fittings and different body shapes. Fashion designers then create a collection of garments for retailers for every new season. It is also up to the fashion designers to source the fabrics and other accessories they would require to create their garments. When needed, fashion designers sometimes take the help of textile designers for the fabric designs that they had imagined for the garments.

Future Prospects of a Fashion Designer

Fashion designers generally work in apparel buying houses, boutiques, garment manufacturing companies or with fashion firms. However, before you can become a fashion designer, you will be required to have some educational qualifications. To pursue a career in fashion designing, here are the degrees that you could opt for-

  • B.A in Fashion Designing
  • B.Des in Fashion Designing
  • B.Sc in Fashion Design
  • B.Tech in Fashion Technology
  • Bachelor’s in Fashion Studies (BFS)

You could pursue the following degrees if you wish to pursue a Master’s degree.

  • M.A in Fashion Technology
  • M.B.A in Fashion Management
  • M.Des in Fashion Design
  • Master’s in Fashion Management (MFM)
  • M.Sc in Fashion Designing
  • M.Sc in Fashion Design and Technology

What is Textile Designing?

Textile designing is yet another stream in the fashion industry, like fashion designing. In the field of textile designing, an individual can open for themselves various opportunities. For example, they could opt for jobs in textile houses, apparel manufacturers, fabric houses and many more.

Role of Textile Designer

The main task of a textile designer is to create patterns and designs on fabric and develop various fabric structures. A textile designer aims to produce material and various embellishments on fabrics. Being a textile designer, you would have to select yarns, the colour of the yarns and dyes to make fabrics of different textures and give each fabric a unique look and feel. Like fashion designers, textile designers have to source their raw material and provide instructions for the knitters and weavers about making a fabric they have designed. They also select prints that would go on each fabric. Textile designers also have to consider such factors as how environmentally friendly and cost-effective the fabrics are. Textile designers are the ones who develop the raw material for fashion designers.

Future Prospects of a Textile Designer

As we said earlier, textile designers generally work in textile manufacturing companies or textile design firms. But before one can become a textile designer, one will be required to meet some educational requirements. Here is a list of degrees that would help you on the path to pursue textile designing as a career.

  • B.Des in Textile Design
  • B.Sc in Dress Designing
  • B.A in Textile Design
  • B.Sc in Textile Design
  • B.SC in Textile and Apparel designing

To open more opportunities for yourself in textile designing and the fashion industry as a whole, you could also opt for a Master’s or higher degree to specialise in the field you want. Here is a list of degrees you could pursue.

  • M.A in Clothing and Textile
  • M.B.A in Textile Design
  • M.Phil in BioTextiles
  • M.Phil in textiles and clothing
  • M.Sc in Apparel and Textiles
  • PhD in Textiles and Clothing

Conclusion

You will find that both fashion design and textile design, though they may seem related, each field is quite different. The fact is that fashion design covers many areas under textile design as well and can thus be deemed informally as an umbrella term. Suppose you are an aspirant who wants to make a career in this industry. In that case, you must complete your education in a reputed industry like the JD Institute of Fashion Technology. Besides getting the opportunity to pursue your desired stream, we will nurture you according to your skillset. We do not believe in the “One size fits all” philosophy and pay special attention to every student. This makes us one of the pioneer institutes for fashion technology.
